Technology Manager Job Opening in Lincolnshire, Illinois - Summary:
The Manager of Technology takes primary responsibility for managing existing technology, evaluating organizational needs and finding new technology, finding and managing vendors and service providers, managing projects involving technology, participating as a team member on product development projects, ensuring employees and clients have sufficient technical support, assisting in the design of new services and products that involve technology, managing the company?s technology and communications budget, and developing the technology strategy and implementation plans. Ensures that employees have appropriate training in proper use of technology involved in their respective positions. Administers ongoing technology commitment and manages projects. This is a hands-on position, initially with no staff other than an outside tech support consultant (part time) and existing employees who may participate in selected activities and projects. Please note that the responsibilities below are evolving with the company and will grow and change over time.
Responsibilities:
Websites
Manage the design and development of the Company?s website and its content, and the choice of, and ongoing relationship with, web-related service providers.
Manage website hosting provider(s) and content management system (currently Sitefinity), and URL?s owned by the company.
Provide technical assistance to marketing dept. supporting website content management.
Facilitate use of Google Analytics by marketing dept.
Assist in the implementation of social networking technologies.
Manage the Company Intranet site and recommend new ways to use it.
Recommend service providers.
Maintain web store (with assistance of web developer)
Add new websites or web pages as needed for new products/services.
Communications and Technology Infrastructure
Ensure that the Company?s technology infrastructure meets the company?s needs as it grows. This includes Internet Service Providers, telephone service providers,
Manage the technology and communications budget.
Recommend vendors and manage changes and additions.
Troubleshoot service issues with vendors.
Investigate and recommend new technologies to meet company needs (e.g. streaming video, VOIP for webinars, conferencing systems, learning management systems).
Internal Infrastructure
Ensure that infrastructure is stable and meeting users? needs, and has enough capacity to meet the organization?s needs as a whole.
Manage protection against viruses, malware, ransom ware, and hacking attacks from Internet.
Manage Internet Service Provider, connection speed, dependability, etc.
Manage moving the infrastructure and services when the Company moves to a different location or adds locations, including Consultants? home office locations (i.e. ensure that consulting staff has adequate service from home offices to perform their functions, including presenting webinars to clients).
Manage and assist outside technology consultants as needed with providing service to Company?s users.
Support Services and Products Offered to Clients from Technology Standpoint
Determine the most cost-effective way to meet users? support needs.
Provide support as needed to users directly if needed.
Assist in the design of systems and selection of software in order to minimize support needs.
Software Development, Selection and Testing
Participate as technology person on software selection projects and software design projects, in the case of custom software applications.
Perform evaluations and tests of software as needed.
Assist in the financial analysis related to software and service acquisition.
Take the lead in researching potential software solutions for company needs (e.g. resource scheduling software, customer relationship management).
Act as project manager for software development projects (e.g. PSI and PASI online reporting tools, and Word List generator, single log-on system, Protected PDF related system).
Online Learning Services
Assist in the selection and implementation of learning management systems (LMS).
Review the usage statistics for client personnel and report on them to clients.
Become a user of our e-learning course authoring software and LMS site/service. Upload courses to the LMS. TBD
Register users of the online courses on the LMS. TBD
Assist in choice of video production technologies and delivery mechanisms to maximize user experience in online courses and webinars. TBD
Assist staff in developing skill and techniques to be used in public and private webinars, and in training and/or obtaining training in the best use of these products. TBD
Periodically review capabilities of webinar platforms and confirm choice of software/service provider.

Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor?s Degree, advanced degree or prior experience.
Experience and Skills:
Successful experience managing projects, vendors and people.
Minimum 7 to 10 years in a business setting supporting technology in a business environment
Customer relations/client support experience a plus
Web-site and software development project management experience required
Online learning experience a plus
Experience in using websites and email in marketing
Knowledge of web and website technologies and their use in websites
Familiarity with Software as a Service
Experienced in selecting vendors of technology services
Outgoing/Personable
Quick learner with a high level of intellectual curiosity
Maturity to handle client information in a professional manner
High integrity, able to hand confidential information appropriately
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Ability to work in fast-paced environment with multiple priorities
