Shop Foreman Job Opening in fort dodge, Iowa - Shop Foreman Shop Foreman -- Fort Dodge Career Bridge USA is seeking a Shop Foreman for our client in Fort Dodge. This position is located in a shop/warehouse. The Shop Foreman is responsible for meeting all administrative and production requirements relating to shop and warehouse operations as well as the receipt and internal distribution of incoming material/product. Responsibilities include: ? Maintain open communication with management, shop personnel, sales, purchasing, customers, suppliers and other interested parties in reference to: o The status of work in progress. o Priorities and coordination. o Short and long range goals/objectives. o The work environment and personnel issues. o Special projects. ? Initiating communication if there is any question in reference to what is to be done or on the priorities of what is to be done. ? Assuring that each production associate is properly oriented and trained following the Company Standard Operating Procedure Manual with emphasis on standards and teamwork. ? Bringing safety problems to management when they arise, along with a recommended solution. ? Organizing the shop and warehouse in a way that guarantees all work will be completed in the most efficient, safe and expeditious manner possible. ? Establishing work schedules and priorities based on management guidance and customer needs. ? Assigning work to shop associates based on their experience, knowledge and skill level. ? Ensuring that adequate materials, tools and shop equipment are available. ? Observing work in progress, assist when problems arise, and check completed work against established standards. ? Studying all operations, searching for ways to simplify the ?work process?, thereby reducing down time and increasing productivity. ? Reviewing new ideas with those doing the work before presenting them to management or initiating change. ? Encouraging all production associates to offer suggestions for job enrichment and technical improvement. ? Requiring that all production and storage areas be kept clean and that all equipment be maintained in a safe and operational condition. ? Carefully check incoming freight for quantity (counts and weights), quality (noting damage on shipping documents) and product/part numbers. Marks and identifies all product/parts and enters the correct information into the computer. Then shelves the product/parts in its proper row and bin location. ? Signs and dates all bills of lading after confirming the product/part number, quantity, and address. Then files all packing slips. ? Restocks shelves when excess stock is available; rotating older stock forward. ? Operates a forktruck (safely) to move material throughout the shop/warehouse areas. Supervisory Controls: Will report to and receive supervision directly from the Operations Manager (OM). The OM provides policies, goals, and objectives. Authority for the conduct of ongoing operations is delegated to the Shop Foreman, who independently makes decisions for day-to-day operations for which he/she is held accountable. Anything beyond normal operations is brought to the OM?s attention with comments and recommendations. Work is reviewed for compliance with policies and procedures, direction received, and overall attainment of objectives. Required Experience: ? Two or more years in a supervisory role. ? The ability to motivate others. ? The ability to mentor others. ? Strong mechanical abilities in a variety of industries. ? The ability to think outside of the box. ? The ability to adapt to change and to change and adapt skills on a daily basis. Special Experience: ? The ability to analyze and solve problems. ? Strong verbal skills. ? Decision making ability. ? Computer literate. ? A farming background may be helpful. Pay is $35,000-45,000/year based on experience.
