Under general supervision, performs duties associated with the reconciliation of general ledger and bank accounts, monthly financial report preparation, fixed asset accounting, processing of accounts payable, accounts receivable, and grant administration, and various internal control compliance reviews.
Maintains subsidiary ledger accounts, including Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and Fixed Assets. Reconciles general ledger and sub-ledger(s). Prepares journal entries. Performs bank reconciliations. Answers accounting and finance questions by researching and interpreting data. Responsible for various duties related to month-end close and financial report preparation and analysis, in accordance with GAAP.
Ensures proper recording of asset purchases and dispositions, runs monthly depreciation, and posts to general ledger. Prepares and submits grant draws, with proper documentation to ensure prompt payment, to outside agencies, monitors status of grant, prepares all applicable fiscal grant reports, and assumes responsibility of A-133 audit documentation.
Processes billing, ensures timely payment for services, records receipt of payments into sub-ledger, posts sub ledger entries to general ledger, and sends late notices. Assists with processing of invoices and employee expense reports, and tracking expenses. Ensures all appropriate documentation is received to pay invoices, including proper signature and system receipts, matching to PO lines, and verifying payment is due. Works with customers and suppliers to resolve payment discrepancies.
Prepares work papers for independent auditors. Assists in development of departmental policies and procedures. Provides ad hoc analysis, as requested.
Bachelor?s degree is required, with strong preference for degree in accounting or finance. Candidates with CPA, MBA or other accounting and finance certification may be given preference. At least one to two-year?s experience in Accounting. Candidates with experience using enterprise resource planning (ERP), business intelligence (BI) and Microsoft Office software are desired. Experience with Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 is preferred.
