Accounting Associate Job Opening in Clive, Iowa - The Accounting Associate is responsible for a wide variety of accounting duties primarily in payroll and accounts receivables for 9 locations in Iowa and Minnesota. Timely, accurate, and confidential processing of weekly payroll for approximately 80 full and part-time employees and accounts receivables for all locations. Additional hours may be required to meet business deadlines, particularly for weekly payroll, month-end and year-end processes.
Essential Duties
Payroll
Enters hours by pay code and tracks employee hours per job through Tsheets payroll software
Coordinates and reviews entry of part-time employee time sheets.
Works with HR Coordinator in tracking and recording leave time.
Responds to inquiries requesting payroll information.
Pays liabilities on time and provides appropriate documentation to file.
Accounts Receivable
Enters daily invoices from all locations.
Creates and sends invoices to Des Moines area customers.
Applies customer payments from all locations and makes daily bank deposits.
Researches and resolves customer payment discrepancies and makes appropriate accounting adjustments.
Department/Office
Assists in month-end reconciliations, reports, and journal entries.
Understands A/P process and provides backup to A/P.
Files payroll, A/R records, and general accounting documents.
Distributes incoming mail.
Works in a fast paced environment.
Serves as backup to Accounting Manager and for payroll-related functions for the Human Resources Coordinator
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
AA degree in Accounting or Bachelor?s degree in Accounting desired.
5 years accounting experience or combination of 5 years education and experience required.
Knowledge of Federal and state laws regarding payroll and accounting practices.
Knowledge of QuickBooks is important in the position and prior work experience with QuickBooks is required.
Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
Ability to work additional hours as needed to meet business deadlines particularly for weekly payroll, month-end, and year-end processes.
