Food Service Worker Job Opening in Fort Harrison, Montana - A Federal Government Agency needs Part-time Food Service Workers in Fort Harrison, MT. Working with and for the Veterans Canteen Service (VCS) in the Veterans Healthcare System, providing quality service to our nation's veterans. Incumbent performs a variety of food service duties in support of VCS food production services and will assists with the preparation, presentation and subsequent serving of prepared food items. Demonstrates excellent customer service skills in daily interactions with customers, i.e., communication, listening, empathy, conflict resolutions, and maintaining a positive attitude. Ability to read and interpret instructions and perform basic arithmetic used in food preparation. Experienced Cashier, in the food service industry, including experience with operating/cleaning kitchen equipment or facilities, working knowledge of proper food handling and food sanitation procedures, etc. Incumbent will operate a cash registers, dishwasher, electric can opener, vegetable chopper, conveyor toaster, steam table, fry saver, broaster, breader, mixer and sandwich packager. Incumbent should possess knowledge in the following areas: food service, with an emphasis on portioning and packaging a variety of meats on a weekly basis for the deli bar, vending machines, or other areas. Prepare and packages sandwiches, mixes salads or assist in preparing salads, such as, Cole slaw, macaroni and potato, etc. Assists in ordering food and the preparation for baking desserts, specials, biscuits, frozen cookies, pretzels or other items. Requires constant standing, walking, and frequent bending. Must be able to lift or move objects weighing up to 40 pounds unassisted, and occasionally lift or move objects over 40 pounds with assistance.
