Responsibilities
The EXPERIENCED Bi-Lingual Financial Counselor will be responsible for working with patients and individuals who are uninsured or under-insured to assist them in applying for Charity Care, Medicaid and Marketplace Health Insurance.
Duties
The EXPERIENCED Bi-Lingual Financial Counselor will be responsible for the following:
Conducting interviews with patients and family members through face to face meetings as well as through telephone contact.
Possessing extensive knowledge of government eligibility programs including NJ and NY Medicaid and NJ Charity Care.
Collecting information and documentation in order to complete eligibility applications for Charity Care, Medicaid and Family Care.
Supporting management in maintaining client goals
Performing other duties as assigned by Manager or Director.
Possessing knowledge in the areas of patient registration and business office operations
Exhibiting exemplary verbal, written and interpersonal skills.
Job Requirements
Detailed oriented with ability to multitask with multiple information systems.
Ability to operate in a hospital?s environment
Ability to adapt to change.
Preferred knowledge of medical terminology.
Professional appearance
Ability to interact with clients and co-workers with mutual respect and professionalism
Preferred experience in the use of various Microsoft Office software applications
Preferred proficiency in the use of various hospital patient accounting systems such as Meditech, Health Quest, McKesson, Siemens, Eclipsys and EPIC.
Completion of Certified Application Counselor training
1-3 Years of hospital revenue cycle experience.
Maintains compliance with HIPAA and all patient confidentiality standards.
High School Diploma or GED required
