Maine Medical Center, a MaineHealth member, is seeking a Surgical Technologist II in Portland. The Operating Room Surgical Technologist Level II meets all of the criteria for Surgical Technologist Level I. The Level II Surgical Technologist works with considerable independence and self-direction in order to ensure all the necessary elements are in place for each surgical procedure. The ability to contribute to the professional growth of other members of the surgical team is a requirement at this level. National certification must be continually maintained through the Association of Surgical Technologists.
Qualifications:
Knowledge of aseptic technique and operating room standards and procedures, acquired through completion of course in an approved school of Surgical Technology.
Interpersonal skills necessary to work effectively with others.
Ability to stand continually for several hours, and to move, position, transport patients, stretchers, equipment, etc.
Ability to concentrate on detail and adjust quickly to changes of assignment.
Demonstrates responsibility for identification of techs own learning needs and communicates these needs to the appropriate resource staff.
Certification required within three months of employment or at the discretion of the Department Director.
One year of surgical technology work experience is required at this level.
Possesses knowledge of multiple types of equipment pertinent to Surgical Technologist role including but not limited to: cell saver, laser, ultradrive, cusa, steris, autoclaves, cautery, laparoscopic video system, endoscopic tower.
Possesses knowledge of contents of multiple specialty instrument trays for assigned service.
Demonstrates the required knowledge and technical skills to perform core Operating Room procedures and specialty procedures in assigned services. Surgical procedures include but are not limited to: scheduled general, cariac, neuro, pediatric, multiple trauma, GYN, GU, vascular, orthopedics, as well as common emergencies.
