Physical Therapist Job Opening in Old Town, Maine - Helen Hunt Health Center is seeking a Physical Therapist! A PT for PCHC plans and administers medically prescribed physical therapy treatment for patients suffering from injuries, or muscle, nerve, joint and bone diseases, to restore function, relieve pain, and prevent disability: Reviews physician's referral (prescription) and patient's condition and medical records to determine physical therapy treatment required. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
1. Plans and prepares written treatment program based on evaluation of patient data. Administers manual exercises to improve and maintain function.
2. Instructs, motivates, and assists patient to perform various physical activities, such as non-manual exercises, ambulatory functional activities, daily-living activities, and in use of assistant and supportive devices, such as crutches, canes, and prostheses.
3. Administers treatments involving application of physical agents using various types of PT equipment.
4. Evaluates effects of treatment at various stages and adjusts treatments to achieve maximum benefit.
5. Administers massage, applying knowledge of massage techniques and body physiology.
6. Administers traction to relieve pain, using traction equipment.
7. Records treatment, response, and progress in the patient's chart or enters information into computer.
8. Instructs patient and family in treatment procedures to be continued at home.
9. Confers with physician and other practitioners to obtain additional patient information, suggest revisions in treatment program, and integrate physical therapy treatment with other aspects of patient's health care.
10. Plan, implement and evaluate patient care programs through the use of selected physical therapy procedures and tests; direct and aid patients in therapeutic exercises, muscle re-education and functional training.
11. Administer selected muscle, nerve, joint and functional ability tests to assist physicians and other health personnel in determining diagnosis, prognosis and patient progress; consult with physicians in developing individual therapy plans designed to assist patients in reaching their maximum performance levels.
12. Coordinate physical therapy activities with other services, agencies and personnel involved in patient care management.
13. Explain therapeutic plans and procedures to patients to allay fears and to obtain cooperation in gaining the maximum benefit from therapy; plan post-discharge follow-up and home referrals for patients.
14. Maintain records and files reflecting up-to-date patient progress, care plans and related statistical data as required by Physical Therapy departmental and PCHC procedures.
15. Participate in training and educating programs for thee physical therapy staff in physical therapy techniques and objectives.
16. Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.
17. Maintains productivity, patient satisfaction, quality care collegiality requirements of PCHC.
18. Interacts harmoniously and effectively with others, focusing upon the attainment of organizational goals and objectives through a commitment to teamwork.
19. Conforms to acceptable attendance and punctuality standards as expressed in the Employee Handbook.
20. Complies with all safety rules and protocols. Reports all accidents, regardless of severity, immediately to supervisor and completes incident/injury report and investigation form, which will be forwarded to Human Resources within 24 hours of incident.
21. Abides by the organizations compliance program and its requirements.
22. Current on all required training for current year.
23. Performs all other duties, as assigned by Supervisor.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
1. Thorough knowledge of physical therapy principles, theory, methods and their proper application in the educational environment.
2. Working knowledge of normal child development.
3. Working knowledge of general management practices.
4. Skill in directly providing a wide range of treatment activities.
5. Ability to plan, implements, administers and coordinates a physical therapy program.
6. Ability to plan, coordinate and conduct on-the-job training and continuing education for a variety of individuals.
7. Ability to select and administer appropriate assessment and treatment methods.
8. Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
· Graduation from a four year accredited program of physical therapy and two years of experience or a master's degree in physical therapy.
· License is in good standing as a physical therapist in Maine.
· Will have up-to-date training and certification in Healthcare Provider Basic Life Support issued by American Heart Association, American Red Cross or American Health & Safety Institute. Must obtain within 3 months if not current at hire.

Salary: $60,000.00 to $80,000.00 /year
