Summary
Primary technical client for developing and supporting the NextGen Software and ancillary applications. Tasks include partnering with end-users, producing technical specifications, producing high quality computer programming code and system configurations, adhering to IT system change management processes, completing system and volume tests, troubleshooting integration with production systems, leading and/or participating in system upgrades. He/she will be responsible for the technical testing and development of custom software tools and integration, reports and templates in NextGen as well as training users on NextGen functionality in order to perform their roles.
Job Responsibilities
Configure, implement, monitor, maintain, and troubleshoot NextGen version 5.8-5.9 system.
Customize/configure software content to address specific user needs.
Fix, debug and update software programs.
Build, maintain, administer and support databases.
Install and configure NextGen software, translate database design and diagnose database performance issues.
Keep data secure by managing access, privileges and information migration.
Install software upgrades, manage hardware upgrades and assist customer in maintaining computer servers.
Develop backup and recovery strategies, and assist in monitoring servers to ensure capacity is not exceeded.
Provide users, customer administrators and IT with training on new database software and systems and develop new and/or improve existing training tools/documentation
Maintain and update incident management database for tracking purposes.
Facilitate the project implementation process; elicit information, asses and validate the solution, collect the requirements and manage the communication among the stakeholders.
Review the development and testing processes to identify areas of improvement for efficiency, accuracy, and completeness.

Perform diversified duties related to overseeing the daily performance of user performance using NextGen software.
Verify software is working in accordance with NextGen Healthcare published manuals.
Attend meetings, as requested, to provide subject matter expertise on the NextGen software and/or ancillary applications.
Provide for product enhancements based on expertise utilizing software and real-world experience working with the NextGen Healthcare Client base.
Sustain detailed product knowledge for existing versions and new versions of NextGen software
Work onsite in area.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Experience implementing nextgen ehr for corrections facilities
Knowledge of clinical workflow and a understanding of clinical terminology.
Demonstrated competence in interpersonal skills, change management, system design life cycle, and project management methodology.
Ability to work independently or as a member of a Team, as directed by manager
Exceptional verbal, writing, technical, and time management skills
Possesses full knowledge of system design, coding, testing, debugging, and documentation.
Minimum Qualifications
Ability to set up and configure NextGen
Strong analytical and reasoning skills
Familiarity with computer hardware
Skilled in relational database concepts with emphasis on PostgreSQL and/or SQL scripting
Familiarity with the deployment and use of Mirth Software
Understanding of the information technology industry; including relational databases, operating systems and networks
Education and Experience
Bachelor?s Degree in Information Systems, Software Programming, or other similar degree
NextGen Certification
3-4 years experience with NextGen software
5 years proven experience working in an Information Services Dept. (especially corrections) or the NextGen software vendor organization within the industry
6-8 years performing ambulatory EHR software
