Job Summary:
The Controller reports to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO), and is responsible for financial reporting for Gorbel, Inc., Ravenwood Golf Club, Inc., Gorbel (Tianjin) Crane Company, Ltd. and associated supporting businesses. The Controller is a member of the Gorbel Management Team.
Job Responsibilities:
Lead and develop the finance and accounting staff in US and China.
Oversee the financial planning, budgeting, reporting, costing, and analysis activities.
Direct general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, payroll, credit, cost accounting, budgeting, internal auditing, and financial analysis functions.
Prepare reports that summarize company business activity and financial position in areas of income, expenses, costing, and earnings based on past, present, and expected operations.
Responsible for accounting policy, financial reporting and tax compliance matters including GAAP, Transfer Pricing Regulations, Sales and Use Tax, and Personal Property Tax.
Establish and maintain financial systems and controls which verify the integrity of all systems, processes, and data.
Provide executive management with timely reviews of the Company?s financial status and progress in its cash management and banking activities.
Create, implement, and maintain systems to support the continuous improvement of Accounting and Finance functions.
Responsible for risk management functions, managing business insurance products and relationships, and providing internal legal support in the areas of contract review, IP defense, and litigation support coordinating with outside counsel.
Participate in annual strategic planning process and partner with other top leaders in the execution and oversight of strategic initiatives.
Develop financial models for use in a variety of capacities. Participate in a variety of special projects.
Prepare supporting schedules and ad hoc reports as required.
Member of 401(K) Plan Investment Committee.
Position Requirements:
Bachelor?s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business or equivalent; working knowledge of GAAP.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in leading traditional accounting/finance functions.
Ability and willingness to execute tactical and strategic activities.
Proven expertise in financial analysis: ability to analyze information and report findings in a concise manner.
Experience working in a manufacturing company.
Proven ability to develop and grow direct and indirect reports.
Strong ERP knowledge and Excel skills.
Strong project management skills.
High self-awareness and emotional maturity; low ego.
Collaborative team player.
Willingness to travel domestically and internationally.
Preferred Skills and Experience:
CMA or CPA.
Experience with Syteline ERP.
Cost accounting experience.
Experience in a wide range of tax matters: sales and use, corporate, multi-state
International business experience, particularly in China.
Experience providing legal support.
Experience working in a system of S-Corp and LLC structures.
ADA Requirements:
Occasional lifting up to 25 lbs.
Sitting, working at desk/personal computer for extended periods of time.
Primary work environment is professional corporate office.
