SPECS:
We are looking for a Data Analytics/Machine Learning Research Scientist for our HPC Program.
Responsibilities include : Provide on-site support to DoD High Performance Computing (HPC) users in the area of Big Data Analytics with a primary focus on machine learning/deep learning, neural networks and Bayesian methods, and applied areas such as computer-vision.
The successful candidate will interact with members of the HPCMP and senior members of the DoD S&T and T&E communities to identify research areas where HPC can be applied to domains of interest to DoD, e.g., high throughput screening, automatic target recognition (ATR), and autonomy...
Upon identification of requirements and promising research approaches the successful candidate will lead the development and implementation of algorithmic cores and new work-stream tools to promote the adoption of high performance data analytics (HPDA) within the HPCMP community. This includes porting, re-implementing, and optimizing promising tools to develop scalable distributed automation capabilities to search and mine large volumes of unstructured data to identify patterns and relationships . Travel (less than 10%) is required. Relocation assistance is available.
Required Qualifications (Minimum required for the position):
Strong math and statistics background through Master?s level or above education and 10 years of work experience. PhD preferred.
At least 5 years? experience in engineering and data science.
Strong understanding of big data concepts and knowledge of big data languages/tools such as Hive, Pig, Mahout, or Spark.
Proficient in C/C++, Python, R, Matlab/Octave, Java, and Ruby preferred.
At least 6-8 years of experience with databases (RDBMS and NoSQL) and multiple file formats.
At least 6-8 years of high performance computing experience in software development and enhancement of tools. (again: at least 5 years? experience in engineering and data science.
Strong understanding of big data concepts and knowledge of big data languages/tools such as Hive, Pig, Mahout, or Spark / Proficient in C/C++, Python, R, Matlab/Octave, Java, and Ruby preferred.)...
Experience with big data technologies in an HPC environment, with a background in current and emerging open source technologies related to analysis of big data such as Hadoop, Spark, and data base technologies such as HBase.
Experience with deep learning frameworks such as , Caffe, Keras, Tensorflow, Theano, Torch, and data analytics tools such as NeuroBayes, RapidMiner, etc. is a big plus.
