Job Description
This is an IN-HOUSE position located in Armada, Michigan. Design experience and attention to detail are a must for this role. This position will work directly with the general manager as well as collaborate with other departments in developing a wide variety of print communications, e-blast communications, photo editing/product shoots and some web page layouts. Camera knowledge is a plus! Candidates who only have web experience will not be considered. The position is heavily print design with some work.
Don?t know much about ponds? That?s ok! We have a full, week-long class that helps you get your toes wet. We utilize an interactive combination of hands-on and visual training to ensure everyone has a full understanding of The Pond Guy?s proactive approach to pond management.
Here are some of your job duties:
Responsible for seeing all projects through to completion. From concept and design to production
Manage all creative projects
Oversee the design team and maintain a collaborative atmosphere
Work closely with the Marketing Team to create collateral, promotional and advertising pieces
Support the Sales Team in creating necessary sales material
Work with the Product Development Team to develop packaging for all products
Work closely with the General Manager on the design and production of the catalog
Manage digital assets
Take product and landscape photography
Available to go on press checks if required
Work with printers, from bidding to the final product
Should be able to lead and manage junior designers and freelancers
Job Requirements
To be successful in this role, you need to have a certain amount of knowledge and skills:
7 + years or more working within a design department within a company
Strong, conceptual thinker who possesses a wide range of design capabilities including a solid background in print, packaging, branding, typography, catalog production, retail graphics and also some web design experience
Comfortable working with and managing outside vendors and printers. 5+ years of experience on press checks with a solid understanding of the printing process
Demonstrate strong organizational skills in order to juggle multiple projects at the same time
Successfully manages their time, work flow and schedule in order to meet strict and sometimes aggressive deadlines
Able to focus, with a keen attention to detail
Possess solid presentation, listening and communication skills
Open and receptive to design critique but also able to represent their own work and stand up for design they believe in
Resourceful: Able to problem solve and find multiple design solutions, especially under narrow parameters or budget restraints
Able to work quickly and efficiently
Exceptional proofreading and editing skills
Able to collaborate with other members of the Graphic Design team and effectively communicate their own ideas
Self-driven, proactive and a team player
Must take pride in their work and be passionate about design
Proficient with Adobe Creative Suite software a must (current version CS)
BFA or related degree
Ability to work effectively under pressure, prioritize multiple tasks and meet deadlines
Proofreading all projects you touch ? be accountable
Working knowledge of camera ? Photoshop skills clipping and color correcting images
Must be able to work in a Mac environment
Microsoft office knowledge a must
