Database Software Developer Job Opening in Ann Arbor, Michigan - Job Description
The database developer will be involved in the implementation of software requirements including:
Translating requirements documents to implement software
Implementing SQL stored procedures and data design specifications
Applying industry best practices of software design, implementation, and deployment
?Hands-on? development involving SQL in a Postgres/Oracle environment linked with JDBC, XML, and web technologies
Primary Responsibilities
Analyze department applications, programming, and operations; evaluate existing systems and designing proposed systems
Recommend and test optimum access techniques; coordinate installation requirements
Provide information by answering questions and requests
Support database functions by designing and coding utilities
Maintain SLAs by establishing and enforcing organization standards
Install and test new versions of the DBMS
Maintain data standards, including adherence to HIPPA
Write database documentation, including data standards, procedures and definitions for the data dictionary (metadata)
Control access permissions and privileges
Develop, manage, and test maintenance, back-up and recovery plans
Ensure that storage, archiving, back-up and recovery procedures are functioning correctly
Capacity planning
Communicate regularly with technical applications and operational teams to ensure database integrity and security
Support new and existing applications
Perform other projects as assigned
Qualifications
Demonstrate understanding of database implementations in Oracle, Postgres, SqlServer, or MySql environment
Focus and initiative in learning and enhancing existing products and future enhancements
Experience with DBMS management and monitoring tools involving Oracle, Postgres, SqlServer, Sybase, or MySql implementations
3 to 5 years? experience with SQL in Oracle, Postgres, SqlServer, Sybase, or MySql
3 to 5 years? experience in database object oriented design and implementation
Ability to manage multiple deliverables with competing deadlines
Strong written and oral communication skills
Strong analytical, and implementation analysis skills
Strong organizational skills working in a fast-paced environment
Bachelor?s degree in related field
