Summary
Working with the Managing Director, this brand new position will be responsible for leading the finance, accounting, inventory control and shipping functions for a very interesting and niche startup business involving Flavors and e-liquids. Serves as an advisor to the senior leadership team.
Initially, this is a ?hands on? position with administrative, general and managerial responsibilities. This exciting startup has very impressive growth plans over the next few years. The position and the team will evolve and grow significantly over time and this person will be expected to grow with it and hire for it. Position will be extremely varied, demanding, yet highly rewarding and will play a major part in running the business and in its future success. The person in this role is required to have strong working knowledge of cost accounting principles in a manufacturing environment. Must have experience preparing management and statutory accounts, budgets and general bookkeeping duties is required. In addition, the person in this role will assist with the strategic decisions of the business and ensuring growth and profitability and must have the ability to influence decision making by preparing and presenting financial concepts to senior management.
Essential Functions:
Data Collection
Construct data accumulation systems for a cost accounting system
Create and review the controls needed for data accumulation and reporting systems
Inventory
Coordinate physical inventory counts and cycle counts
Investigate cycle counting variances and resolve issues
Develop and maintain standard costs
Review standard and actual costs for inaccuracies
Validate the cost of goods sold as part of the month-end close
Accumulate and apply overhead costs as required by generally accepted accounting principles
Manage periodic reporting of inventory held for third parties
Design procedures to identify and dispose of obsolete inventory
Analysis
Conduct ongoing process constraint analyses
Report on breakeven points by product line
Report on margins by product, customer and division
Report on periodic variances and their causes, focusing in particular on spending variances
Develop customer pricing proposals and developing volume discount pricing matrices
Develop Product costings
General/Accounting and Reporting
Design, establish and maintain General Ledger, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Fixed Asset and Inventory Control systems
Design and implement month end, quarterly and annual closing process
Prepare financial statements, balance sheet schedules and bank reconciliations
Ensures timely reporting of financial data to Corporate
Prepare budgets, forecasts and related analyses
Analyze data and report on ratios, trends and variances
Establish and maintain strong internal controls to ensure compliance
Prepare cash flow forecasts
Act as liaison with internal and external auditors
Ensure completion of monthly inventory reconciliations
Ensure that all statutory reporting is processed in accordance with individual requirements such as sales tax filings, income taxes, etc.
Prepare internal and external stakeholder presentations
Qualifications:
Bachelor degree in finance or accounting, or a related field. CPA preferred.
2+ years? experience in Public Accounting or in a Professional Accounting position with Manufacturing and an understanding of relevant accounting and financial reporting, cost , cash flow projections, financial modeling, consolidated financial statement preparation and job costing business models required
MUST have at least two years of QuickBooks experience.
Experience working with small and medium sized accounting packages is a plus.
Technologically savvy ? on top of the latest technology and highly proficient with MS Office
Superb PowerPoint and Excel skills, including v-lookups and pivot tables
Superior analytical and quantitative skills
Written and verbal communication skills, ability to influence the decisions of others (including executive management)

Able to juggle multiple tasks simultaneously while meeting deadlines
