Oncology Research Nurse Job Opening in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma - Oklahoma?s only comprehensive academic cancer center, the Stephenson Cancer Center at the University of Oklahoma is a nationally noted leader in research and patient care. The Stephenson Cancer Center annually ranks among the top two cancer centers in the nation for patients participating in National Cancer Institute-sponsored treatment trials, and it is one of 30 designated lead centers nationally in the Institute?s National Clinical Trials Network. In collaboration with the Oklahoma Tobacco Settlement Endowment Trust, the Stephenson Cancer Center is decreasing the burden of cancer in Oklahoma by supporting innovative laboratory, clinical and populations-based research. The Stephenson Cancer Center has 250 research members who are conducting more than 215 cancer research projects at institutions across Oklahoma. This research is supported by $48.3 million in annual funding from the National Cancer Institute, the American Cancer Society and other sponsors.
At the Stephenson Cancer Center, we have some exciting new job opportunities coming up that could be right for you! We are looking for nursing professionals who can performs protocol specific nursing activities for oncology patients to include but not limited to patient screening in tumor boars and outside referrals, adverse event and toxicity monitoring, disease response, and quality of life. Oncology Research Nurse is a key role in helping the Stephenson Cancer Center reach our mission of decreasing the burden of cancer in Oklahoma.
Representative Job duties:
Collaborates with physicians to ensure protocol compliance. Under physician supervision, administer study medication and/or review study closing at each cycle in order to complete follow up procedures with the patient. Align business strategies with processes so that strategies are more quickly implemented and objectives achieved. Create viable process transitions plans that detail how the organization will effectively move from the present to the revised state.
Counsels patient, family or legal guardian regarding side effects of oncology treatments and disease process. Assesses patient for protocol compliance and toxicity management.
Responsible for clinical data collection including PK and PD sampling and toxicity assessments and medication assessments.
Collaborates with other healthcare professionals to include but not limited to physicians, mid-level providers, and other clinical staff to provide efficient quality patient care.
Participates in and contributes to oncology clinical research activities related to a specific oncology specialty. Coordinates with the CTO Lead Research Nurse and Director to develop and implement studies in assigned area. Coordinates research priorities for specified area.
REQUIREMENTS:
Education: Associate?s Degree in Nursing
: State of Oklahoma Registered Nurse Certification. BLS and CPR certification.
Preferred: Bachelor?s Degree in Nursing.
