Behavioral Health Technician Job Opening in Fort Smith, Arkansas - Seeking 1st, 2nd, and 3rd shift positions for a Behavioral Health Technician. Priority given to individuals with a background working with children, are CPI and/or CPR certified, and those that have worked in the medical field.
Responsible for providing safe, effective patient care under the direction of the Program Manager and Unit Charge Nurse. The Behavioral Health Tech has a significant role in direct patient care and is a principle element in providing a safe and therapeutic environment for patients/residents. Must be able to act as a role model to patients and residents. Ability to demonstrate good verbal and written communication skills and perform other duties as assigned.
Must meet one of the following Education Requirements:
-High School Graduate (GED) + 6 months of experience working with children
-Associates Degree + 3 months working with children
-Baccalaureate Degree in human services or related field
General Requirements:
-Must be at least 18 years of age
-Must have patience, tact, and a cheerful disposition and enthusiasm
-Good communication skills; must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language
-Basic clerical skills, basic experience with office equipment such as telephone, copy machine, fax with basic computer skills
-Ability to understand and carry our oral and written instructions
-Ability to problem solve and accept feedback when circumstances warrant such actions
-Willingness to interact with patients with varying levels of cognitive function
Special Qualifications:
-Ability to effectively present information to groups
-Ability and willingness to work professionally as a team with other personnel, patients, families, etc.
-Must be able to relate to and work with the mentally ill, disabled, emotionally upset, varying age populations, and at times, hostile people within the hospital
-Must maintain high levels of personal integrity and willingness to be flexible with work schedule to meet hospital needs.
-Must maintain a safe environment at all times.
