RESPONSIBILITIES
This position is responsible for the day to day administration of the accounting duties, including banking, oversight of A/R, A/P and payroll and monthly and yearly filing of reports and remittances. Also, on a monthly basis is responsible for basic journal entries, account reconciliations, and some preliminary statement preparation.
Daily Functions
Oversee A/P, A/R and Payroll functions and be a resource to those personnel.
Review data input and sign off on entries or adjustments.
Review postings for proper authorizations.
Monitor daily bank balances and transactions, as well as execute authorizations for wire payments.
Review bank transactions and report on daily statistics for companies (Sales, A/R, A/P, Cash flows)
Weekly / Biweekly
Oversee weekly check runs (as well as ad hoc runs) and review documentation prior to signing checks for distribution.
Review payroll transactions and ensure remittances are made and reconciled. Transfer appropriate funds to payroll accounts.
Review HSA and 401k remittances.
Produce reports for payroll hours and stats as well as other ad hoc report.
Monthly
Process filings and remittances for B&O Sales taxes, parking taxes, and quarterly taxes.
Reconciliations of balance sheet accounts.
Prepare some basic journal entries in Excel and/or MAS90.
Post JEs, close modules in MAS90.
Ad hoc queries into expenses.
Fixed asset accounting in the FAS system (add, dispose, depreciate)
Reconciliation of B/S accounts and various tax accounts.
Bank Reconciliations
Government filing and remittances.
Be a resource and second level liaison with vendors and customers to solve issues not satisfactorily dealt with by front line staff.
Yearly
Year-end closes of financial systems
Assistance in production of working papers for year-end audits
Work with auditors on annual 401k Audit (along with payroll)
EXPERIENCE
The successful candidate for this position will have accounting knowledge, work well in a team environment, and can work independently. This person will have supervision by the CFO who can provide training and ongoing support for the roll. There will be an opportunity to grow into a more active role in the production of financial statements as well as take on more supervisory responsibilities within the accounting department.
Knowledge of MAS90, Counterpoint (POS retail software), or Scrapware is a benefit but is not a requirement. Working knowledge of Excel is a necessity. Proficiency in other Microsoft office software is certainly a benefit.
