Under the supervision of Finance Director, the Grant Accountant is primarily responsible for accounting of grants, service contracts and sub-grants, as well as providing support on reporting and analysis needs. Consistent with PAI?s team and mission driven approach, the Grant Accountant also has an integral role in communicating with staff across the organization to facilitate the smooth implementation of PAI finance processes. As a member of the EO+ team, the Grant Accountant engages with and mutually supports team members and their departments, upholds the values of the organization and participates in PAI-wide initiatives.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor?s degree in related field (Finance, Accounting or Business) and 4 years of related experience working in non-profit accounting, including 2 years of accounting for international sub-grants or managing multi-year grant awards
Relevant training and experience working with GAAP related to the functions assigned
Positive outlook and friendly demeanor
Commitment to PAI?s organizational mission
Experience with MS Word, Excel, and Outlook
Must be organized and detail-orientated, and exercise discretion with sensitive information
Ability to discern and communicate with the highest level of tact and diplomacy, both verbally and writing
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Review for compliance, process and record sub-grant and contract wire payments, particularly international. Work with project managers and department budget approvers to resolve payment documentation deficiencies.
Prepare and record service contract and pledge invoices
Reconcile service contract and pledge receivables accounts
Reconcile grants payable liability account
Maintain and reconcile project controller module in Microsoft SL General Ledger and Adaptive Insights forecasting applications.
Prepare and report on multi-year grant proposals. Work to identify and resolve project variances with Programs and Development teams.
Maintain sub-grant manual in coordination with Program staff
Assist with annual audit and IRS Form 990
Other tasks as assigned by Finance Director
