Buyer Planner- Billings Montana Job Opening in Billings, Montana - The Buyer ? Planner will be responsible for performing the detailed production planning and purchasing functions as part of a Supply Chain Team and is accountable for the supply management for one or more assigned Product Lines and for raw material inventory levels for assigned commodities or product lines.
The focus of this specialized, technically oriented procurement position is on meeting and exceeding high standards of accuracy and quality based on established systems, technologies and in technical problem solving based on expertise and experience, and a strong commitment to efficiently achieve high quality results is required. A thoughtful, persevering, self-disciplined approach to achieving accurate, detailed work is essential.
A key aspect of the job includes the ongoing identification of technical problems and the development of sound, carefully thought-out solutions. Problem solving is focused on proven systems and technologies and established organizational relationships.
Because of the expertise developed in this position, it is necessary to regularly initiate and communicate viewpoints on problems and opportunities in a factual, straightforward job allows for autonomy and independence, and is primarily self-reliant.
The Buyer - Planner will support and work closely with Manufacturing, Operations, Customer Service and Accounting. He/She will convert approved Master Schedule plans, sequence Production Orders on a daily or weekly basis, and assist Manufacturing in managing open orders from Release-to-Close.
The Buyer - Planner will also determine inventory parameters, manage purchase orders, communicate delivery schedules, expedite material, process returns and resolve payment issues. He/She will also be responsible for communicating supplier performance problems (sourcing, delivery and quality) to the Operations Manager.
The Buyer - Planner will perform all or some of the following Job description:
The Buyer - Planner will maintain appropriate level of raw material inventory
Convert MRP requirements to purchase orders
The Buyer - Planner will expedite material as required
Frequently review and maintain the integrity of MRP parameters (lot/order size, lead times, Days Forward Supply, Safety Stock) and provide data for Key Performance Metrics (Schedule Compliance, Time Fence Violations, Work in Process, Inventory Turns, Projected Inventory at Risk/Stock Loss)
Act independently and routinely perform moderately complex planning and problem solving
The Buyer - Planner will proactively seek and identify opportunities to improve quality, reduce cost and inventories within the supply chain.
Participate in weekly/monthly Supply Planning Schedule reviews for one or more Work Centers and ensure appropriate follow up of agreed upon actions
Review and update current product availability information on a daily basis
Coordinate as needed with the Operations Manager for resolution of supplier issues (quality, delivery), or implementation of changes to the supplier base
The Buyer - Planner will process material returns
Work with Accounts Payable to resolve payment issues
Process Engineering Revision Orders or Change Notifications as needed
Periodically review and disposition Excess & Obsolete, Unscheduled, Expired inventories
The Buyer - Planner will support efforts to ensure data integrity of Book-to-Physical Inventory, BOM's and Routings.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Required:
3-5 years MPS/MRP experience
Knowledge of integrated Supply Chain systems (i.e., ERP systems)
Strong negotiating skills
Solid analytical, planning, interpersonal, and oral/written communication skills
The Buyer - Planner should have thorough knowledge of ISO requirements
The Buyer - Planner must have experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint & Visio)
Desired:
Certification (APICS and/or CPM)
BS/BA or Associated in Business Administration, Logistics or related field
