Network Engineer Job Opening in cedar rapids, Iowa - Network Engineer Geonetric is looking for a dynamic IT professional to join our team that is experienced and knowledgeable in virtual networking. You?ll get to work with an incredible array of technology, really smart people, and provide critical support to one of Iowa?s fastest growing companies. Network Engineer applicants must be able to: ? Design, deploy, install and manage numerous networking technologies. This includes our company?s internal network, our hosting facilities? production networks, or sometimes even in collaboration with our clients? networking teams across the country. ? Technologies used at Geonetric that you?ll be required to be able to configure, maintain and support include: o Windows-based servers o VMWare and other virtualization tools o IIS and other web server based applications o General network infrastructure: switches, firewalls, etc. o Various security applications and devices ?You?ll also need to be able to write up and document with technical accuracy the networks that you will be working on here. Documentation work will include: o Network configuration o Network mapping o Network processes o Service records ? Sometimes you?ll have to assist with various infrastructure projects at our facilities: moving stuff around, fixing phone systems, general repairs, network cabling, etc. ? There will also be a need to be available for other duties as assigned Other required qualifications are: ? BA in Computer Science, MIS or other related degree, plus four years of proven experience in networking utilizing the technologies listed above ? Experience with VMWare ESX servers ? Application support experience with applications ? Technical knowledge or network and PC operation systems, including web hosting models ? Ability to work collaboratively with many types of people ? Ability to sit for prolonged periods of time in front of a computer. ?Ability to perform physical activities, such as, but not limited to, lifting heavy equipment (up to 50 lbs. unassisted), bending, standing, climbing or walking. ?Ability to read, understand and apply complex technical information ? Ability to master new computer technology quickly and correctly ? Ability to implement projects to completion and work with schedules and timelines Work Environment/Culture Work hours must be flexible to accommodate customer and office demands and commitments. Please note: Members of the Geonetric IT department are expected to be on call for scheduled after-hours time periods.
