JOB SUMMARY
Pet Life is seeking mature, responsible team members to help serve our guests and live our mission statement. A successful candidate will be outgoing, willing to approach our guests, and go the extra mile to create an exceptional experience. A positive attitude is essential and required for this position. WORK ENVIRONMENT
Pet Life firmly believes that knowledge and team work are essential in providing excellent guest care. As such, team members are required to perform all tasks in the store including stocking shelves, running a cash register with accuracy, general maintenance of animal enclosures, regular and clinically based animal husbandry, and a willingness to learn new tasks. All team members will interact regularly with reptiles including snakes, small animals, birds, fish and crickets.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
This is an active retail floor environment that requires a sense of urgency and the following:
-Ability to work well with others while performing many tasks
-Acute attention to detail
-Commitment to upholding outstanding guest service standards and company philosophies at all times
-Dedication to maintaining visual excellence based on company standards through regular maintenance and rotation of the product as well as general upkeep
-Merchandising, cleaning and recovery based on company standards of visual excellence
-Driving Sales
-Cash register accuracy
-Lifting up to 50 pounds of dog food
-Commitment to constant growth, both through digital and hands on training, and a willingness to learn
-Commitment to some nights and weekends is necessary with a minimum of one Sunday per month scheduling requirement
QUALIFICATIONS
The appropriate candidates will have a passion for pets, compassion for people, and a good work ethic. Candidates will be required to provide instances of success in creating and maintaining outstanding guest service experience, willingness to work with others, ability to take direction and provide honest feedback, and meet changing job requirements (related but not limited to Point of Sale platforms, varied customer traffic, learning new products, and more). A candidate must possess basic computer skills and a strong desire to learn and grow. Passion for pets, compassion for people, and a good work ethic.
OUR STORY
Pet Life has been around since 1985 (though the stores used to be called The Kennel Shop). We're born & bred in New England, and take great pride in helping pet parents provide the best care for their companion animals. In 2013-14 Pet Life opened two new locations, created a unique team member Education Program with in-store kiosks, webinars, and certifications, and revised our Partners Program for vendors. In 2015 we opened three new locations, re-imagined our store interiors, simplified our food merchandising to better serve our guests, and implemented nutrition standards for reviewing new products and a Sustainability Statement for live animals and support of local breeders.
