Software Engineer Job Opening in Plymouth, Michigan - Company Overview:

We specialize in ECU (Electronic Control Unit) development, testing, customization, and designing.
Objective of Role:
Design, development and validation of cost-effective automotive and adjacent Embedded and/or Tools software as directed by senior team members.
Main Responsibilities and Tasks ? Need to Do:
Supporting developing technical proposals including estimating in support of new business wins.
Supporting and executing cost-effective automotive software designs. These designs will be suitable for volume manufacture or prototyping as applicable and delivered to agreed timing, cost and quality targets.
Performing design activities including (but not limited to): requirements capture, specification writing, software design and analysis, third party software component selection, FMEA, robustness and reliability analysis, validation testing, test and engineering report writing, and documentation.
Day-to-day co-ordination with other design team members, including Hardware, Mechanical and Software, and liaison, where required, with outsourced Validation and Manufacturing partners.
Interfacing with the customer?s engineering team where required.
Ensuring that design tasks are executed in accordance with internal and customer quality/process requirements to achieve clean software releases.
Technical Skills/Experience Specification ? Need to Know
BSc or equivalent in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Physics or related field.
>2 years of experience in automotive software development or related field.
Experience with the embedded software lifecycle
Experience with C, C++ or assembly language software implementation
Appreciation of good requirement capture and system specification
Experience of configuration management and associated tools eg SVN
>1 year experience of working with automotive quality systems (TS16949 and APQP processes or ISO9001.
Strong analytical and problem solving skills (familiar with 8D or equivalent process)
