Bookkeeper/Administrative Assistant Job Opening in Portland, Oregon - Our interior design firm is looking for an experienced bookkeeper with a background in accounting. We are a busy, close-knit office located in a beautiful historic building in downtown Portland, just off of the waterfront. You will be responsible for creating our clients' bills, entering expenses into our accounting system, reconciling cash accounts, and entering payroll journal entries. A good portion of the job involves detail-oriented data entry, but the position also requires a strong understanding of basic accounting principals.
You will also be cross-trained with the office manager to create proposals/purchase orders, process payroll/payroll taxes, reconcile deposit/WIP accounts, and work with out-of-state sales tax issues.
The ideal candidate has 3+ years experience:
- creating purchase orders
- processing payroll/payroll taxes
- reconciling cash accounts
- processing out-of-state sales tax reports
- reading financial statements
Other job specifics:
- the position is 15-20 hours/week, with the flexibility of working 25 hours/week when required
- starting pay is $20/hour, with the possibility of an increase after job reviews
- our accounting software, Design Manager, requires precision since it can be a bit unforgiving
