Our Location
LaSalle General Medical Center, a 49 acute inpatient bed hospital providing a wide range of complex healthcare services in Jena, LA, is excited to announce the opening of its Senior Behavioral Health Unit. The staff of the 16-bed unit serves seniors in the Jena and surrounding areas experiencing mental, emotional and behavioral challenges.
Currently seeking a Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS) to facilitate recreational and therapeutic activities in a geriatric psychiatry unit. Mental health and geriatric experience required. Degree in Recreation Studies preferred. Certification as Therapeutic Recreation Specialist or eligibility for certification is required.
Job responsibilities for this position include,
Serving as a member of an interdisciplinary treatment team to provide therapeutic recreational and activities to restore and maintain the mental and physical ability of elderly patients
Assisting with the planning and implementation of the patient?s daily program schedule seven days a week
Planning the activity schedule, including times not present on the Unit
Supervises other staff while participating in a comprehensive activity therapy program
Must be confident, friendly and comfortable working with senior adults. Must have excellent communication skills and be knowledgeable of the needs of the elderly. Please forward cover and resume, Attn. Certified Therapeutic Recreation Therapist
