Nonprofit Controller - Part-Time Job Opening in Cherry Hill, New jersey - The Multiple Sclerosis Association of America (MSAA) is a national, nonprofit organization founded in 1970. Our organization is dedicated to improving lives today through ongoing support and direct services to individuals with MS, their families, and their care partners. MSAA is a leading resource for the entire MS community, improving lives today through vital services and support. We are actively looking for a part-time Controller.

POSITION SUMMARY:
The Controller is responsible for the development of MSAA?s nonprofit?s financial management strategy and contribute to the development of the organization?s strategic goals. In addition to the strategic components, the Controller is charged with developing and implementing more sophisticated policies and procedures both in the finance and general operational realms. The Controller provides leadership and coordination of company strategic financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, debt financing, auditing, financial processing and budget management functions and ensures company accounting procedures and reporting conform to generally accepted accounting principles.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Analyze and make recommendations pertaining to all financial decisions and questions related to MSAA.
Plan, coordinate, and execute the annual budget process.
Develop appropriate policies, procedures and guidelines pertaining to financial systems and financial controls. Collaborate with department heads in implementing, interpreting and monitoring them.
Monitor financial status of departments within MSAA through a system of periodic reporting and internal evaluation program. Apprise leadership of problem situations, present strategies for resolving them and carry out follow-up action as directed by the President and CEO and board of directors.
Oversees other financial programs including the accounting functions for budgeting, payroll, employee benefits, risk management, accounts receivable, and accounts payable.
Oversee the planning and completion of annual audit process.
Provide direction and supervision for the finance department personnel and their work.
Work with SMT on preparing funding opportunities, sponsorship proposals and grant requests as appropriate
Act as liaison to Audit and Finance Board Committee effectively communicating and presenting critical financial matters at board of directors and committee meetings
Monitor and analyze monthly operating results against budget
Oversee daily operations of the finance and accounting department
Manage the preparation of all financial reports, financial outlooks and financial forecasts
Prepare financial analysis for contract negotiations and product investment decisions
Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal budgetary reporting requirements
Assist in establishing short- and long-range departmental goals, objectives, policies, and operating procedures
As a member of MSAA?s SMT, provide insights and opinions on relevant issues and topics leading to actionable decisions and strategic goals
Represent the organization externally, as necessary, particularly in banking and investment conversations.
Design, establish, and maintain an organizational structure to effectively accomplish the department?s goals and objectives.
Coordinate financial audits and provide recommendations for procedural improvements.
Coordinate with the CEO and SMT to ensure company objectives are met
Other duties as assigned by the President and CEO.
REQUIRED DEGREES, LICENSES AND CERTFICATIONS:
BA/BS in related field required. CPA preferred
Minimum 5 years nonprofit management experience
