Sales Specialist Job Opening in Towson, Maryland - DESCRIPTION
Health Professions Press, an independent publishing company in Towson, MD, is looking for a goal-oriented self-starter to join our team as Sales Specialist. HPP is a publisher of award-winning books in caring for the elderly, with an emphasis on Alzheimer?s care, and of renowned textbooks on healthcare and administration. Since 1989, HPP has been serving the human services field with its books, resources, and professional development offerings.
The successful candidate will expand sales of our books and related products and manage our acclaimed Best Friends? dementia care training program and product line. The incumbent will be an innovative, critical thinker, and will balance a people-oriented personality with attention to detail in the execution of responsibilities. This Sales Specialist will be responsible for:
Generating creative sales offers, including bulk sales, premium sales, and special website offers
Managing HPP?s Best Friends? Master Trainer program, including running an annual training event, maintaining communication with certified trainers, and generally advancing the goals of this dementia care program
Negotiating terms and drafting contracts for business relationships
Coordinating business opportunities with organizations and companies in elder care
Maintaining regular contact with all key customers
Managing electronic and automated interfaces with major re-sale accounts, including wholesalers, distributors, and catalog accounts
Representing the company at selected national conferences (2?3 per year)
Providing input and support for the marketing department in the creation of promotional communications for new titles and the Best Friends? program
Developing and managing budget for areas of responsibility
Participating in strategic planning
This position requires:
Bachelor?s degree or higher from an accredited institution and at least one year work experience in related area
Solid understanding of professional sales strategies and marketing principles
Effective written and oral communication abilities, with negotiation skills
Strong organizational and project management skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite software and use of Internet browsers, as well as ability to learn proprietary and open-source software systems for daily work flows and basic data management
Ability to travel for business if needed
Knowledge of the dementia care field and/or long-term care market a big plus
