Controller Job Opening in Honolulu, Hawaii - Easter Seals Hawaii has been providing services to infants, children and adults with disabilities and other special needs, and support to their families since 1946. We are a growing CARF Accredited Non-profit celebrating over 70 years in Hawaii.
We are hiring for a Controller to join the Easter Seals Hawaii Ohana. Under the direct supervision of the Chief Financial Officer, this position oversees all accounting operational functions to include financial reporting, budgeting, cash management, accounting and internal control systems, and audits.
Essential Duties/Functions:
Supervises accounting staff with the assistance of the Accounting Manager.
Acts as department lead during CFO?s absence.
Manages the accumulation and consolidation of all financial data necessary for accurate accounting of business results.
Coordinates and prepares internal and external financial reports.
Oversees cash management to include daily cash flow monitoring and cash forecasts.
Coordinates activities of external auditors and is responsible for any changes recommended by independent auditors.
Oversees the preparation and design of organizational budgets.
Oversees the preparation of all regulatory reports including governmental/grant compliance reports and ensures compliance with contract/grant terms.
Maintains the general ledger system.
Ensures compliance with current internal control procedures.
Reviews and approve transfers between ESH Accounts.
Recruits and trains accounting staff as necessary.
Takes lead on accounting orientation for new employees.
Reviews contracts.
Assists with grant proposals.
Assists with Finance Committee and Board Meeting presentations.
Prepares monthly budget versus actual variance reports (Capital and Operating) for CFO.
Assists with ESH Annual certification and annual report\Administer construction projects and work with Facilities manager and vendors.
Assists with repairs to company property, working with Facilities manager.
Works with CFO on special projects as needed.
Reviews and approve journal entries.
Reviews and signs checks.
Other Duties/Functions:
Participates in/coordinates Easter Seals Hawaii events, as requested.
Participates in ESH Senior Management and other staff meetings.
Other duties as assigned.
Bachelor?s degree in Accounting, minimum of five (5) years of accounting experience, including preparation of financial statements and management reports, and at least three (3) years of experience required. CPA designation preferred.
