Medical Billing Clerk Job Opening in Colorado Springs, Colorado - Primary Home Health Care is looking for an experienced Medical Billing Clerk. This position is part-time, 25-30 hours a week. We bill Medicaid, Medicare, and VA.
Implements efficient billing and collections systems and accounts receivable.
Ensures that client accounts are maintained according to accepted accounting principles and in accordance with all state, federal, CHAP (Community Health Accreditation Program) and Joint Commission standards.
Monitors accounts receivables and resubmits bills as needed on overdue accounts, enlists assistance from collection agencies on seriously delinquent accounts and prepares reports for finance director regarding bad debt.
Demonstrates knowledge of all payer contracts and follows specific requirements of the account when submitting claims.
Reconciles Medicare reimbursement reports from the intermediary with the internal billing information systems.
Supervises and reconciles cash receipts and bank deposits per agency policy.
Ensures the confidentiality of client and agency information through effective controls and supervision of department staff.
Collaborates with clinical staff and supervisors to assure information required for accurate billing is received.
Utilizes the aging report to monitor account balances and establish priorities for collection efforts.
Maintains current and organized client account filing system.
Processes, posts, and reconciles payments received.
Ensures effective communication and positive working relationships with personnel from all areas of the Agency to maintain coordination of interrelated activities.
Informs clinical and finance departments of any changes in coverage from payers or documentation needed to support reimbursement.
Communicates necessary information to Supervisor and management team to assure coordination of financial operations.
Maintains contact with clients, payers, and other disciplines as needed to facilitate the reimbursement process.
Qualifications
High school graduate with minimum of two (2) years of additional training in business or accounting.
Minimum of two (2) years experience in health care billing and collections, preferably in home care.
Demonstrated knowledge of billing regulations for Medicare, Medicaid and insurance processing, medical terminology and coding.
Knowledge of regulatory and accreditation standards for home care specific to the reimbursement area.
Information system knowledge in the areas of electronic claim submission and data entry/report generation.
Demonstrated organizational skills, detail orientation, flexibility and ability to work with minimal supervision.
Demonstrated strong verbal and written communication skills and ability to provide direct supervision to department staff.
Background check, drug screen, and physical required.
