POSITION SUMMARY:
The Information Security Specialist (ISS) monitors computer networks and information systems for security threats or unauthorized users, identifies compromised machines, and reports on security measures taken to address threats. The ISS is responsible for the assessment, auditing, reporting, review, and documentation of threats and vulnerabilities to computer, network, and information systems. The ISS also analyzes security risks and develops security controls. Additional duties may include developing and testing software deployment tools, firewalls and/or intrusion detection systems. Additional ISS responsibilities may include researching, evaluating, recommending and implementing other security devices on the network including, but not limited to, installation of computer security software, conducting regular security audits, preparing security status reports, educating users on computer security, creating security documentation for users, assisting in disaster recovery and gathering evidence regarding cyber-crimes.

Reliable transportation
Excellent verbal and written communications skills
Must possess and demonstrate excellent customer service skills
Proficiency with Internet and Microsoft Office applications to include, but not limited to: Word and Excel
Must be detail oriented with good organizational and time management skills
Ability to multi task effectively
Must have effective interpersonal skills to interact successfully with customers, management and team members to ensure customer satisfaction
Must be analytical and have proven problem solving abilities
Must be able to prioritize and re-prioritize as needed in a fast-paced working environment, especially when dealing with time sensitive issues and mandated deadlines
Must be willing and able to adjust work schedule to support shifts of various lengths and start/stop times based on workload

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Maintains knowledge of current security best practices and works with the organization to implement those that will protect the company networks and data, and maintain its security environment
Conducts assessments, audits, and testing of systems. Provides recommendations and overall enterprise technical security management, develops recommendations for standardized company wide information security practices, standards, policies and procedures
Performing analysis of network security needs and contributes to design, integration, and installation of hardware and software
Maintaining and administering perimeter security systems such as firewalls and intrusion detection systems
Identifies internal and external information security risks; performs risk and cost benefit analyses to determine appropriate levels of security controls; evaluates IT systems to ensure compliance with privacy and information security policies and procedures
Troubleshoots network access problems that point to potential security violations
Develop and help implement data, systems and network security policies and procedures
Ensures network (LAN/WAN, telecommunications, and voice) security access protects against unauthorized access, modification, or destruction
Participate in development of vulnerability management, incident response, containment and investigation
Identifies, reports, and resolves security violations
Work with internal and external auditors/examiners to ensure the timely completion of security reviews
Evaluate vendor and Commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) software security compliance
Work towards the remediation of findings from auditors/examiners
Provide data security training to employees, management and others as needed
Develop InfoSec program assets and promote information security awareness
Collaborate with vendors, colleagues, management and agencies to detect and halt security issues that pose a threat to the company and its customers
Work with Network (and System) Administrators to ensure system uptime and support levels are upheld
Perform all other related duties and special projects as assigned
REQUIREMENTS:
High School diploma or equivalent
Bachelor?s degree in information technology or related field; equivalent work experience, or a combination thereof
Possess at least 3 years? of experience with data communications and information security administration and compliance
Ability to obtain Certification for information security as deemed appropriate
CompTIA Security+ certification desired; but not required
GIAC Security Essentials certification desired; but not required
Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) desired; but not required
Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH) desired; but not required
Certified Information Security Manager (CISM) desired; but not required
WORKING ENVIRONMENT:
Work primarily in a climate controlled environment with minimal safety/health hazard potential. Sedentary, sitting, walking, occasional lifting (overhead, waist level) from floor, bending, frequent near vision use for reading and computer use. Independent lifting ability of up to 25 lbs.
