Senior Accountant Job Opening in San Francisco, California - The Foundation

POSITION SUMMARY
Reporting to the Controller, the Senior Accountant performs assigned accounting functions of the organization?s financial systems. This position will provide support for various aspects of the finance department?s operations, applying Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) in the analysis, verification and preparation of general ledger transactions and other financial records. Ensure that the Foundation?s accounting and financial controls, policies and procedures are maintained and followed, recommending enhancements where necessary and appropriate. Prepares journal entries, account reconciliations and preparation of monthly/quarterly financial statements in accordance with GAAP. Maintains fixed assets records, journal entries and annual reporting requirements. Supports annual year-end close process, including preparing supporting schedules for the interim/annual audits and tax returns. Prepares semi-monthly payroll journal entries and performs quarterly and yearly reconciliation. In coordination with Grants Administration team, process grant payment disbursements and reconciliations, including preparing relevant journal entries. Monitors custodian bank accounts daily for cash flow purposes.
The ideal candidate will have bachelor?s degree in accounting or a related field, five or more years of increasing responsibility in financial accounting and be a CPA. A self-starter, analytical thinker with the ability to work both independently and as a thoughtful team member. Candidates must have a customer service orientation, with excellent oral/written communication and interpersonal skills. Experienced at explaining financial accounting principles to non-accounting colleagues. Excellent time management ability, with solid prioritization skills and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously in a fast paced and continually evolving environment.
