Food and Occupational Safety Manager Job Opening in Crete, Nebraska - Crete Core Ingredients is a lead supplier of premium fresh and frozen inedible raw materials for the pet food industry. We specialize in novel and premium meats, fruits and vegetables. We are currently recruiting for a motivated individual to fill the Food and Occupational Safety Manager position at our Crete, Nebraska location. The successful candidate will be a strategic thinker and tactile implementer, who is willing to work with employees, not be afraid to get their hands dirty and who will jump in and find and implement solutions.
POSITION TITLE: Food and Occupational Safety Manager
REPORTS TO: Plant Manager
CLASSIFICATION: Full-Time
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Document, develop and implement processes and procedures to meet food and occupational safety requirements.
Maintain current understanding of the Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA).
Track, measure and report plant quality KPI?s progress and drives continuous improvement initiatives to improve food safety controls throughout the supply chain.
Understand and implement company and government standards for food safety, environmental monitoring, HACCP, GMP, FSMA, OSHA and all other
Maintain, document and execute plant food safety, document control, CGMP, HACCP, FSMA, recall, hazard analysis, pest control and other programs and policies.
Ensure compliance/audit readiness ? annually reviews and be ready for unannounced audits.
Conduct investigations of Food or non-conformance issues.
Lead internal CGMP, quality standards and system audits for the facility.
Perform and document safety tours and report findings to facility management as well as verifying and validating all corrective actions are completed and documented.
Daily, manage and monitor campus sanitation within CGMPs.
Identify potential hazards recommend corrective action to facility management verify and validate corrective actions to completion.
Support safety programs to ensure OSHA compliance for multiple facilities.
Plan safety team meetings and associated tasks.
Complete new hire and safety training and continual training for current employees and ensure documentation is maintained with applicable laws and regulations.
Participate in accident investigation process.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: **
Degree in Food Service w/ emphasis on Microbiology
3 years? experience in human food or food/pet food quality, food/pet food manufacturing or product safety desired or equivalent education.
Knowledge of federal, state, OSHA, EPA, AAFCO, FDA, USDA, APHIS, FSMA, Department of AG, BSE and NOP regulations.
FSMA, HACCP certificates.
Auditing and compliance experience.
Experience in cleaning and sanitation programs.
Excellent interpersonal and team building skills.
Excellent verbal, written communication, analytical and problem solving skills.
Strong computer skills, including Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
Willingness and ability to provide 24X7 on call support for emergencies.
Must be able to travel on an occasional basis.
Experience working with state health departments and third-party auditors is a plus.
Bilingual is a plus.
