Full Stack Software Engineer Job Opening in Frederick, Maryland - Mosaic Power, a technology startup with offices in downtown Frederick, is a recognized innovator in the energy industry. Our pioneering distributed electrical load control system is helping pave the way for wider adoption of renewable energy sources on the electrical grid. We are seeking a curious, eco-minded individual to help us solve some of the energy industry's most pressing problems.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Under direction of the CTO, assist the development team in the day-to-day design and development of Mosaic Power?s cloud-based operations management system.
Adhere to development best practices, including coding standards, documentation, source control, and release management guidelines.
Assist the development team and IT staff by occasionally performing system administration and operational control tasks.
Proactively work with field operations staff to develop and implement ideas for improved field support and operational performance.
Support innovation and patent creation through periodic brainstorming sessions.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelors degree in computer science, computer engineering, electrical engineering or related field
5+ years of software development experience
Strong working knowledge of Linux
2+ years of in-depth Java or another JVM language experience
2+ years of web application development
Ability to self-teach and self-manage
Excellent personal communication skills
Must be authorized to work in the US. Mosaic Power does not sponsor visa or green card applications
Preferred Qualifications:
Scala (Akka, including Streams and HTTP)
Python
C/C++ or a modern systems language such as Rust or Go
Experience with or interest in embedded development and IoT
Experience building secure, concurrent, distributed server applications
Experience with modern web UI frameworks such as Polymer
InfluxDB or other NoSQL experience
