Criterion Systems, Inc. is seeking an Assistant Controller at our Vienna, VA headquarters with government contract accounting experience to support our HQ with a background in government contracting accounting experience. Reporting directly to the Controller, the Assistant Controller will be responsible for oversight of the general accounting and reporting functions. The selected candidate will perform other critical tasks including, but not limited to; leading the monthly and year end close process, assistance in monthly financial reporting, managing the payroll cycles, general oversight and assistance with the accounts receivable/billing cycle, maintaining and reconciling the general ledger, lead government compliance audits with DCAA/DCMA and system reviews, and other outside audits as required.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Manage general accounting functions, including accounts payable, payroll, and travel expenses
Lead the monthly and year end close process including financial reporting
Perform month end analysis of financial results and investigate variances
Analyze and reconcile balance sheet and income statement accounts
Perform indirect rate calculations and variance analysis
Provide financial interpretation, analysis, support and monitor costs/charges for appropriateness, accuracy and compliance as it relates to government standards rules and regulations
Assist in managing external financial statement and regulatory audits
Lead and manage semi-monthly payroll process
Maintenance of Deltek Costpoint, Time & Expense and Cognos systems
Continually improve current processes to gain efficiencies
Work with Manager, Financial Analysis & Pricing on DCAA regulatory reporting such as Incurred Cost Submissions, provisional indirect rate submissions and other applicable reporting requirements
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:
Requires Bachelor?s Degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field
Minimum of 5 years of corporate and/or public accounting experience required; experience in a senior role such as Accounting Manager or Assistant Controller is desired; requires at least 3 years working in a government contracting environment
Minimum of 3 years of experience supervising accounting or finance staff.
Requires strong working knowledge of government contract accounting system such as Deltek Costpoint
Working knowledge of Cost Accounting Standards and FAR/DFARs
Strong Excel skills
Strong oral and written communication skills
U.S. Citizenship
PREFERRED BUT NOT REQUIRED:
CPA or CMA Certification
Hands on experience using all modules in Deltek Costpoint and Time & Expense and Cognos systems
