The role of our new Systems Engineer in DevOps will be to work with a team in automation, orchestration, and administration of the Advanced Strategies custom suite of applications. Our ideal candidate must be self-motivated with a proven track record of conducting development operations activities across all facets of a private cloud environment. The candidate must be organized and analytical, adept at working in a fast-paced team environment, able to develop and troubleshoot DevOps tools and processes across a variety of technologies, and able to handle multiple conflicting priorities.
Responsibilities:
Manage the flow of custom applications through development and testing environments, coordinate and execute release activities
Monitor overall system health and take appropriate actions
Liaise with managed services providers for infrastructure and database administration
Liaise with solution architects, and software developers to ensure that systems are built contemplating operational requirements and best practices
Manage project work related to enhancing and improving operational and system processes
Help plan, manage, and execute on environmental changes, and migrations
Participate in internal projects as required
Requirements:
B.S. degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, MIS or other equivalent degrees
1-3 years of relevant experience in professional services or custom application development
Solid understanding of database design concepts
Solid understanding of the components of a clustered cloud architecture
Experience with automation activities in both Windows Server and CentOS/Red Hat Linux environments
Experience managing Atlassian products such as JIRA, Confluence, and Bitbucket
Experience working with open source development tools such as Jenkins, and Nexus
Experience with configuration management tools such as Ansible, Chef, and Puppet
Experience in managing expectations when balancing competing priorities
Experience with operations within a public cloud; AWS preferred
Strong presentation and communication skills
Must demonstrate good judgment and pragmatic approach when dealing with the operation of production systems
Good knowledge and understanding of the financial services industry, Hedge Fund of Fund or Asset Management preferred.
