Director of Finance Job Opening in Omaha, Nebraska - Position Summary
The Omaha Community Playhouse?s (OCP) Director of Finance will be a strategic thought-partner and report to the executive director (ED). The successful candidate will be a hands-on and participative manager and will lead and develop an internal team to support the following areas: finance, accounting, business planning and budgeting, human resources, operations, and Information Technology (IT).
The Director of Finance will play a critical role in partnering with the senior leadership team in strategic decision making and operations as OCP continues to enhance its quality programming and build capacity. This is a tremendous opportunity for a financial leader to maximize and strengthen the internal capacity of a well-respected, high-impact organization.
Scope of Responsibilities
Directs the financial affairs of the organization and prepares financial analysis for the guidance of management. The Director of Finance is responsible for the company?s financial plans and policies, its accounting practices, the conduct of its relationships with lending institutions and the financial community, the maintenance of its fiscal records, and the preparation of financial reports. The position involves supervision over general accounting, property accounting, external auditing, cast accounting and budgetary controls. The Director of Finance will guide and manage human resources services, policies and programs for OCP, including performance management and improvement systems, employee relations and counseling, employee safety, welfare and wellness along with the ED and external consultants, as needed. The Director of Finance guides organizational growth in IT. This position serves as a close advisor to the Executive Director and aids in smooth day-to-day organizational operations.
Required Qualifications:
A bachelor?s degree in Accounting or related business field
At least seven to 10 years of overall professional experience
At least six years of broad financial and operations management experience
Must be well organized, self-motivated and posses ability to prioritize and be accountable for time lines and management of projects. A multitasker with the ability to wear many hats in a fast-paced environment.
Must be able to work well in a culturally diverse agency, with regard to both customers and employees.
Experience with audit coordination for either a division or significant program area and final responsibility for the quality and content of all financial data.
Ability to translate financial concepts to ? and to effectively collaborate with ? programmatic and fundraising colleagues who do not necessarily have finance backgrounds
Excellent communication and relationship building skills with an ability to prioritize, negotiate, and work with a variety of internal and external stakeholders
Personal qualities of integrity, credibility, and dedication to the mission of OCP
Preferred Qualifications:
Minimum of a B.A. with an M.B.A. and/or C.P.A.
Experience in nonprofit accounting as well as experience with grant reporting, including a track record in grants management
Has overseen a human resources function; Commitment to training programs that maximize individual and organization goals, including best practices in human resources activities
The ideal candidate is technology savvy with experience selecting and overseeing software installations and managing relationships with software vendors; knowledge of accounting and reporting software
