POSITION SUMMARY :
Analyze project requirements and the design process and/or mechanical equipment in order to accurately design automation systems that will cause the equipment to function in the desired manner. Automation Controls Engineers are responsible for the interface between the hardware and software development for the automation system.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :
Develop electrical and controls system design solutions based on engineering principles.
Ensure all relevant safety objectives and legal requirements are observed for all work completed.
Analyze project requirements and perform technical calculations supporting design including electrical requirements, robotic safety standards, and motor controls.
Oversee project workflow and support internal and external resources to ensure timely delivery of projects, expected quality, and allotted budget.
Create and finalize designs to meet project requirements.
Electrical, software design of customized solutions including manufacturing automation and safety systems. Able to maintain project scope and identify project creep.
Resolve operational problems related to projects and minimize delays or unexpected cost increases.
Maintain accurate records and files according to quality standard.
Creates metrics based on initial goals and objectives versus actual results.
Dispenses advice, guidance, direction, and authorization to carry out Engineering.
Check the quality of assemblers and technicians work and respond to inquiries during assembly.
Works with engineering, commercial department, and the plants to discern actual versus planned rates, scrap, ergonomics, efficiencies and other related metrics.
Troubleshoot issues with existing company installed systems.
Assists with panel building/wiring and mounting devices.
Proactively tracks milestones, vendor deliveries, retain lessons learned and interacts with assigned vendors pertaining to technical aspects of launches.
Establishes and maintains an effective system of communications throughout the organization.
Additional duties and responsibilities may be assigned as well, depending upon the needs of the Company.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
BA/BS degree in engineering or related discipline
2+ years of experience in the automation industry
Proficient in Design/Drafting Tools
Programming Logic Controllers (PLC)
Experience and skill in troubleshooting control system issues
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, designs and specifications. Ability to communicate articulately and effectively, both oral and verbal, with clients, and all levels within the TransNav organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to apply mathematical concepts such as trigonometry, geometry & basic statistics. Ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as product prints, product specifications, metrology results, circuitry and performance validation.
