Sr. Accountant / Accounting Manager (Full Time) Job Opening in Emeryville, California - The Trustees and the Head of School of EBI are seeking faculty and staff members who, in addition to their specific responsibilities, demonstrate the following:

The Accounting Manager reports to the Director of Finance and Administration. The Accounting Manager is responsible for assisting the Director of Finance and Administration in order to manage the school?s resources in a prudent and careful manner
Responsibilities:
Perform and support functions of the business office, following priorities set by the Director of Finance and Administration.
Perform accounting functions including:
Track receipts, disbursements, and coding of accounts.
Reconcile all bank and credit card accounts.
Process all accounts payable and accounts receivable.
Prepare all monthly journal entries. Manage month-end and year-end close.
Collect receivables including deposits and tuition.
Manage student accounts and respond promptly to parent questions. Bill families for tuition, extended care and auxiliary programs.
Assist Parent Association with financial reporting and reconciliations.
Take responsibility for the annual audit and preparation of tax return.
General Ledger and Budget Reporting function including:
Input annual budget.
Provide monthly budget and variance reports on a timely basis to Director of Finance and Administration, Head of School, Board of Trustees, and department managers.
Review general ledger accounts and reconcile balance sheet accounts monthly. Alert the Director of Finance to problems.
Reconcile the various tracking systems the school uses for cash, receivables, enrollment and contributions with the general ledger.
Maintain fixed asset and amortization schedules and record depreciation.
Maintain QuickBooks, including backups and system upgrades.
Maintain both physical and electronic filing system for accounting records. Maintain and update the school's document retention policy as needed.
Oversee Purchasing of Supplies and Equipment with Administrative assistance.
Maintain a system of cost control to further efficiency consistent with high standards of education and the limitations of the budget.
Manage credit card donations for annual giving, the parent association auction, and deposits and account reconciliations.
Other Responsibilities:
Assist Director of Finance and Administration in overseeing cash management. Update cash flow projection report monthly.

Qualifications and requirements:
Excellent organizational skills, accuracy, and attention to details. Reliable, dependable, willing to make the extra effort to insure timeliness and accuracy.
Ability to multi-task, is detail oriented, meets deadlines, and handles confidential information with the utmost discretion.
Ability to independently set priorities and juggle competing priorities.
Knowledge of computer applications related to business office job functions. Extensive experience with QuickBooks, MSoft Excel, and MSWord is required. Ability and willingness to learn new technologies.
Maintain a professional demeanor at all times.
Good judgment and creative problem-solver.
Commitment to continued development of relevant professional knowledge
Flexible self-starter who anticipates needs of the school.
Well-developed interpersonal skills, with appreciation for superior customer service. Ability to communicate appropriately with parents, faculty and staff, and Board of Trustees. Is collaborative and cooperative with faculty/staff.
Thrive in a fast-paced environment.
Bachelor?s degree in business, accounting, finance or a related field required; CPA highly desirable.
5 to 8 years experience in accounting; preferably some experience in not-for- profit
Thorough understanding of GAAP/Accrual accounting.
Bi-lingual Spanish/English speaker is preferred but not required.
