Operations Team Leader Job Opening in Winchester, Virginia - SpecialMade Goods & Services, Inc., a value-added reseller of brand name commercial and healthcare products is experiencing substantial growth and has an immediate opening for an experienced production operator. In addition to providing flexible wholesale and retail distribution, SpecialMade creates custom solutions including imprinting, custom graphics, product modification and new product development. General Overview and Responsibilities:
Leadership: The Team Leader is responsible for providing professional leadership and direction to the team. The Team Lead is responsible for handling all safety issues and reports back to Safety Leader with proper documentation. The Team Lead is responsible for opening up and shutting down the building.
Functional Knowledge: The Team Leader is responsible for preparing all LTL & TL shipments as well as ensuring all customer orders are shipped on-time. The Team Lead is responsible for understanding all tasks in Operations and maintains procedures by updating them as needed. The Team Lead is a working position and is cross-trained in every area as well as the trainer for those areas. Tasks include, but are not limited to: picking, packing, and preparing product for shipment via U.P.S., Federal Express, LTL & TL shipments. Receiving product via Slip Skid, hand unload, accuracy is a must.
The Team Lead will also lead efforts to improve all processes to drive efficiency and accuracy. Team Lead must be able to: perform basic math skills, pays attention to the details of orders, possesses moderate skill level in use of computers, ability to read and follow written instructions in English, accepts necessary criticism for improvement, possesses understanding of LTL/TL shipping processes and preparation of product for shipment. Works well with other individuals to meet the common goal of shipping orders on-time.
People Management: The Team Lead will document and provide feedback to the Operations Manager for all employee performance reviews. The Team Lead must lead and manage with consistency, fairness, firmness and neutrality while role modeling appropriate company behavior and adherence to company policies.

Knowledge Required:
Practical understanding of production and distribution work environment.
Understanding of LTL & TL shipping processes.
Possesses a spirit of teamwork with a desire to work toward a common goal.
Has a strong understanding of inventory control and how to effectively manage inventory levels.
Can assume responsibility for safe work practices in all aspects of job.

Computer usage ? Must have minimum to moderate skill level. Must be able to maneuver within operating system and enter data.
Must be able to regularly lift and/or move up to 30 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move 75 pounds.
Must be able to stand and/or mobilize by walking for 90% of an 8 hour shift.
Some tasks may require sitting for 10% of the work day.
