Quality Assurance Manager Job Opening in Logansport, Indiana - I NDEED HIRE is partnering with TRANSCO RAILWAY PRODUCTS INC., seeking an experienced Quality Assurance Manager for their Logansport, IN location.
QUALITY ASSURANCE MANAGER
Quality Assurance Manager is responsible for developing and maintaining the Quality Assurance and Inspection Program for a shop location. This position is also responsible for the maintenance of policies, procedures, and standards in accordance with the Transco Railway Products Policies and Procedures, Association of American Railroads ("AAR"), Manual of Standards and Recommended Practices , Specification for Tank Car Tanks, and related AWS and AAR rules and technical standards
KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Coach, mentor, motivate and lead all Quality Assurance staff which includes Technicians and Inspectors in the quality process.
Support the shop to ensure safe habits and safe working conditions are adhered to for those working in the quality assurance groups.
Through collaboration with local shop leadership, ensures compliance with all OSHA, AAR, FRA, TRPI and customer requirements regarding all quality assurance, environmental, health and safety regulations. Including but not limited to maintaining training and compliance logs. Must be able to interpret and maintain current all quality QAM?s, QAPs, Master Lists, etc.
Make recommendations to the Plant Manager concerning facility and employee quality assurance issues. Supports continuous improvement opportunities while maintaining established quality and safety standards.
Perform annual audits and random quality assurance inspections.
Perform training on key quality assurance topics.
Develop annual quality assurance budgets as applicable.
EDUCATION AND OTHER QUALIFICATIONS
College degree (associates or bachelors) preferred in engineering, operations, technical, or related field or equivalent experience.
Extensive knowledge of transportation and/or railroad regulations.
Preferred certifications ASQ CQA, AAR Basic and Advanced Auditor Training.
A minimum of 5 years of inspection and testing of rail cars or related experience. Tank car experience is highly preferred. Previous supervisory experience preferred.
Proficiency with basic computer programs including Outlook, Word and Excel is mandatory.
Excellent oral and written communication skills. Ability to effectively convey messages in public presentations.
OTHER SKILLS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The ability to manage company assets including but not limited to inventory, fuel, company accounts, tools and human resources with an integrity that is beyond reproach.
The ability to comprehend and share AAR, FRA, Customer and TRPI requirements.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK SITE ENVIRONMENT
The ability to lift up to 50 pounds safely.
The ability to work in adverse weather conditions as needed.
The ability to sustain mental and visual attention to details for sustained periods of time.
Hearing protection shall be required in certain designated areas to noise levels greater than 80 decibels.
Scaffolds, floors, ladders and walking surfaces may be uneven.
