Protestant Coordinator of Religious Education Job Opening in Biloxi, Mississippi - The successful candidate for this position will be a 1099 coordinator with Music Ministry International and be responsible for the following:
Position Title: Protestant Religious Education Coordinator at Keesler, Air Force Base
Standards of Education, Qualification, Experience: Coordinator must:
2.1. Be well versed in the essential teachings and religious practices of historic Christianity.
2.2. Be able to work within a Christian interdenominational and religiously pluralistic environment.
2.3. Have an active at a Protestant church/chapel and furnish a letter of endorsement from their current pastor/chaplain.
2.4. Possess at least three (3) years? experience in religious education and program management to include:
2.4.1. Verifiable working experience in a local church;
2.4.2. Recruiting volunteers and planning events; and
2.4.3. Formulating and leading Bible studies as a small group leader or teacher.
2.5. Furnish a resume and portfolio including academic and work related experience.
2.5.1. Furnish evidence of skill in the use of computers and associated software via previous experiences, work history, or volunteer history.
2.6. Possess at least two (2) years? experience in social media platforms.
2.7. Be proficient in and able to effectively use Microsoft Office products (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel).
2.8. The ability to communicate effectively in spoken and written English.
2.9. The ability to effectively accomplish assigned tasks with minimal supervision.
2.10. The ability to work with an advisory council to plan, implement and evaluate community goals and objectives.
Requirements and Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
3.1. Comply with Air Force Instructions (AFI) and local Operating Instructions (OI) that apply to thisposition.
3.1.1. Chaplain Corps AFIs are located at . Under Product Index, click on ?Departmental? and then ?52-Chaplain.?
3.1.2. Local Chapel OIs will be provided to the Coordinator upon initial award of contract, whenever OIs are updated, and upon request from the Coordinator.
3.2. Support the overall Chapel mission by working cooperatively with leadership, staff members, and volunteers.
3.3. Re-invigorate the active duty and their family members? connectedness to the Chapel through outreach, enrollment, recruitment, training, coordination, and promotion of programs.
3.4. Oversee/coordinate all Protestant community and RE events/programs in cooperation and consultation with the RE Chaplain, chapel staff, Protestant Advisory Council members, and volunteers. Including, but not limited to:
3.4.1. PYOC/TeamKids
3.4.2. Kid Connect
3.4.3. Children?s Church
3.5. Plan, coordinate, schedule, and recruit volunteers (especially the active-duty and their family members) for all Protestant community life activities in cooperation with the chapel staff to include, but not limited to:
3.5.1. socials and events
3.5.2. Airman Ministry Center (liaison for community involvement, volunteers, etc.)
3.5.3. Annual Clean-Up Day (volunteer ecumenical effort to clean-up Chapel facilities)
3.5.4. Bible Studies
3.5.5. Chapel appreciation events
3.5.6. Couple and Family retreats/events
3.5.7. Ecumenical Events
3.5.8. Organizational activities (e.g., Protestant Women of the Chapel)
3.5.9. Pioneer Club or similar children?s programs
3.5.10. Vacation Bible School
3.5.11. Recurring Community fellowships
3.5.12. Seasonal celebrations (e.g., harvest celebration at end of October)
3.5.13. Special Events (Bowling Parties, Community Picnics)
3.5.14. Service/mission projects
3.6. Ensure all volunteers working with youth below 18 years of age receive a background check as directed by DODI 1402.5 Criminal History Background Checks on Individuals in Child Care Services, and local OIs.
3.7. Arrange registration for respective events/programs, keep a record of enrollment and attendance, and maintain a current roster of the volunteer teachers and leaders.
3.8. Attend weekly, monthly, and as-required meetings in order to coordinate respective events and submit a weekly activity report on existing and upcoming activities at Chapel staff and Protestant Advisory Council meetings. Notify RE Chaplain and/or Contract Monitor of anticipated delays and absences at least seven (7) days prior. If absent, coordinator will find a substitute to support these requirements who meets the personnel qualifications per Paragraph 11.
3.9. Create weekly bulletins and other graphic media for Protestant programs, special programs such as funerals/memorials, and seasonal events throughout the year.
3.10. Attend each worship service at least once a month to oversee lay-led programs, develop points of contact within each service, and promote chapel programs and recruit volunteers.
3.11. Maintain approved postings on the Protestant portion of the chapel web page and social networking accounts. Coordinate updates with chaplain staff for approval prior to posting.
3.12. Assist the RE Chaplain in producing and distributing an annual calendar of all Protestant community events and ministries.
3.13. Present a neat appearance and dress appropriately for religious services in accordance with local Chapel Operating Instructions.
Pluralistic Environment: The environment in which this contract is implemented is a religiously pluralistic and sensitive arena of numerous faith group and denominational traditions. The Coordinator accomplishes the terms of the contract in compliance with the mission requirements and standards set forth and defined by the Department of the Air Force and the Air Force Chaplain Corps. Activities and behavior to the contrary are viewed as grounds for contract termination.
Background Checks:
5.1. A criminal history background check must be initiated and completed for all Coordinators, Coordinator substitutes, and program volunteers working with children under 18 years of age.
5.2. If awarded the contract, the Coordinator shall immediately submit a background check application to the Contract Monitor, or designee, in accordance with Department of Defense Instruction (DoDI) 1402.5, Criminal History Background Checks .
5.3. Coordinator will ensure that all program volunteers, and Coordinator substitutes, working with children under 18 years of age, submit a background check application to the Contract Monitor, or designee, in accordance with Department of Defense Instruction (DoDI) 1402.5, Criminal History Background Checks .
5.4. While awaiting the background check results, all program volunteers, or Coordinator substitutes, working with children less than 18 years of age, must remain within line of site of another Coordinator, staff member, or volunteer who has an approved background check on file.
Dates, Times, and Performance Location(s).
6.1. Minimum of 18, maximum of 28 hours per week.
6.2. Maintain a presence during the Saturday and Sunday worship service(s) and RE classes.
6.3. Arrive at least 30 minutes prior to the beginning of classes.
6.4. Coordinate weekday office hours with the RE Chaplain and Contract Monitor who will, along with Coordinator, determine core working hours.
6.5. Coordinator will be notified in advance of changes with service times and building locations to arrange aforementioned services. Coordinator must be present at a predetermined time coordinated with the RE Chaplain prior to the start of events. Rate of payment for described services will be monthly.
List of workspace, supplies and equipment.
7.1. The Government will provide working space in Wing Chapel and all equipment as required for Coordinator personnel.
7.2. The Coordinator will be provided access to an office space with desk, chair, computer, printer, filing cabinet, bookcases, phone, expendable office supplies and other items deemed necessary to perform services described in this PWS.
7.3. Due to limited resources and space, the Coordinator may be required to share a workspace with other Coordinators.
7.4. Government owned furniture, computers, instruments, sound equipment, supplies, etc. will not be moved without the express permission of an active duty Chaplain or Chaplain Assistant.
7.5. The Coordinator is accountable for the security and cleanliness of all facilities utilized in conjunction with their programs.
Standards of Dress: The Coordinator will be appropriately and neatly attired and well groomed. Shirts and blouses must have sleeves. Sleeveless T-shirts, shorts, and short skirts are not acceptable. Hair and facial hair will be neat, clean, and properly trimmed.

Candidates who do not possess at least three years of performing steadily as a Protestant Religious Education Coordinator in a church or chapel need not apply. This is a part-time position with compensation based on budget and the successful candidate?s experience and qualifications.

9.3. The Coordinator coordinates all support requirements with the Senior Protestant Chaplain, Contract Monitor, or designee.
Financial Responsibility:
10.1. Coordinator will submit monthly invoices prior to payment being made.
10.2. The Coordinator is responsible for the accounting and payment of Social Security Taxes, Federal Income Taxes, State Income Taxes, Unemployment Insurance premiums and tort liability.
Subcontracting During Periods of Absence:
11.1. The Coordinator will personally perform the services described within this PWS. If unable to perform duties for short periods of time (not to exceed two [2] weeks), the Coordinator is responsible for providing an alternate or substitute of equal or higher proficiency.
11.2. All Subcoordinators must meet the same qualifications as the Coordinator and be approved as suitable by the Contract Monitor or designee.
11.3. Submit the names and qualifications of proposed Subcoordinators to the Contract Monitor or designee for approval at least seven (7) calendar days prior to the proposed absence.
11.4. Coordinator is responsible for payment of any substitute or Subcoordinator.
Conference Travel: In the event that chapel funding is made available to send the Coordinator to a training conference, participation may be approved by the Wing Chaplain or Contract Monitor.
