Director of Nursing (Long Term Care) Job Opening in Shreveport, Louisiana - Indeed Hire and Nexion Health have teamed up in hopes of attracting the next Director of Nursing for the Pierremont Healthcare Center location in Shreveport, LA.
FUNCTION: Plans, coordinates and manages the nursing department. Responsible for the overall direction, coordination and evaluation of nursing care and services provided to the Residents.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Supervises nursing care provided by registered nurses, licensed nurses and others for whom they are administratively or professionally responsible.
Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organizational policies and applicable laws.
Supervisory responsibilities include:
Interviews, hires and trains employees.
Plans, assigns and directs work.
Prepares work assignment sheets, taking into consideration Resident safety, the educational preparation, experience, knowledge and ability of the persons to whom the assignments are made.
Receives calls and finds replacements for absent staff.
Transfers employees among units as needed.
Prepares performance evaluations with the understanding that such evaluations impact tenure of probationary employees and wage increases of non-probationary employees.
Meaningfully rewards and disciplines employees with the understanding that such discipline results in termination of employment through progressive steps.
Schedules and adjusts lunch and rest breaks.
Approves the correction of errors in time cards or other timekeeping records.
Authorizes overtime as necessary.
Receives and resolves employee complaints.
Determines rotation of employees within facility.
Monitors and corrects job performance of employees.
Is in charge of facility in absence of higher-ranking management officials.
Uses independent judgment and discretion on behalf of the organization in the performance of these duties.
QUALIFICATIONS: The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.
Education and/or Experience:
A graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing.
2 years of management or supervisory experience in long-term care, acute care, restorative or geriatric nursing preferred.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
A Registered Nurse who is currently licensed to practice by the state of LA.
Maintains current CPR certification.
Additional certification in nursing specialty desired.
Other Qualifications:
Freedom from illegal use of drugs.
Freedom from use of and effects of use of drugs and alcohol in the workplace.
Anyone found guilty by a court of law of abusing, neglecting or mistreating individuals in a health care related setting is ineligible for employment in the position.
