Payroll Accountant Job Opening in Pleasanton, California - Overview:
The Payroll Accountant is responsible for managing all aspects of the payroll function:
Process accurate and timely payroll on a consistent basis
Interface with ThinkHR and internal HRIS system to assure accuracy, consistency and timeliness
Assure that state and regulatory filings are accurate and timely
Prepare key reports for management and key stakeholders
Maintain ADP (or other automated payroll system) in accurate, effective and cost efficient manner
Responsibilities:
More specifically, the Payroll Accountant is responsible for:
Process accurate and timely payroll on a consistent basis.
Manage to a pre-established payroll schedule of deliverables on a consistent basis
Process hourly (union and non-union), salaried and commissioned payrolls in an accurate and timely manner
Establish and enforce policies and procedures for the accurate and timely collection of time via automated timeclocks
Balance internal quarterly audits
Assure all new hires, terminations, leaves of absence and PTO are accurately paid and managed in the accounting records
Adhere to ADP processing cutoffs
Validate that Vacation and Sick Leave Accruals are properly accruing and that they are reflected properly on employees? paycheck stubs
Interface with ThinkHR and internal HRIS System to assure accuracy, consistency and timeliness
Manage to a pre-established payroll schedule of deliverables on a consistent basis
Proactively interact with ThinkHR and HRIS System Administrator to ensure that all paper work is current.
Validate that all information is received timely from ThinkHR and HRIS System
Assure that state/regulatory filings and employee related funds are accurately and timely processed
Manage to a pre-established payroll schedule of deliverables on a consistent basis maintained by ADP
Assure that experience rates, locations and employees are in the correct taxing codes
Work with ADP to review and file Form 941s on a quarterly basis
Work with external tax consultants on payroll related filings
Manage workers compensation process, audits and compliance
Review and transmit 503B filings for each payroll on a timely basis
Assure timely and accurate processing and remittance of garnishments and flex spending amounts
Prepare key reports for management and key stakeholders
Prepare analytical reports for monthly, quarterly and yearly financial statement package
Provide analytical reports for annual budgeting and periodic forecasting functions
Review payroll registers to assure that there is an accurate payroll
Run key ADP reports and provide to management on a monthly basis
Maintain ADP (or other automated payroll system) in accurate, effective and cost efficient manner.
Assure efficient and accurate set up of employee information
Reconcile vacation accrual to supporting excel worksheet
Update ADP for new in which we are doing business
Assure that ADP interface with the general ledger is accurate on a payroll by payroll basis
Develop and maintain key working relationships and go to people
Requirements:
College Degree strongly encouraged
At least 5 years of payroll system and/or direct ADP experience
CPP (Certified Payroll Professional) highly desirable
Ability to maintain confidentiality around sensitive personnel and payroll issues
Excellent interpersonal, organizational, diplomatic, and problem-solving skills within a rapidly changing environment
Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines
Ability to work within a published schedule
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Able to multi-task and meet deadlines
Ability to work independently and think analytically
Advanced proficiency with Excel, Word and general ledger systems
