Tax Accountant II Job Opening in Reno, Nevada - Tax Accountant
Applies principles of accounting to analyze financial information and prepare financial reports and prepare tax compliance documents. Maintains or oversees the control of accounts and records in such areas as disbursements, expenses, tax payments, and income.
Compiles and analyzes financial information to record transactions, prepare reports, and review and verify accuracy.
Prepares tax return work papers and compliance filings with a focus on indirect tax matters and has the ability to review balance sheet and profit and loss statements, consolidated financial statements, and other accounting schedules and reports.
May design, modify, install, and/or maintain tax accounting systems to ensure an adequate recognition of financial transactions.
Responsible for the adherence to and communication of tax accounting and auditing policies and procedures.
The accountant assists the tax department in a variety of functions including tax work paper preparation, account reconciliations and various other assignments as necessary.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
Preparation of tax compliance documents for relevant federal and state agencies with an emphasis on indirect taxation
Review of general ledger reports for accuracy with respect to tax matters
Assisting with the preparation of tax work papers for indirect tax matters
Preparation of journal entries
Review of the GL for proper coding of tax related entries
Punctuality to work each day and prepared to work scheduled work hours
Research on a variety of indirect tax topics, including sales and use tax, personal property tax, and real property tax.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:
3+ years? experience
Requires a BA/BS in Related Field.
CPA Preferred. Relevant work experience may substitute for required education.
Experience with automated accounting systems
Ten key by touch a plus
Proficiency in Word & Excel
Strong organizational and communication skills
Must be detail oriented with strong analytical abilities
Minimum Fundamental Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities as stated in SNC?s Responsibility Matrix.
Note: Ability to obtain/maintain a security clearance may be required.
