The Payroll and Benefit Specialist will process bi-weekly payrolls for both exempt and non-exempt employees in a multi-state, multi-company environment. Payroll processing includes ancillary payroll tasks including audits, tax payments, G/L reconciliation, garnishments and deductions, adjustments and documenting procedures. Responsible for processing all benefit changes with benefit providers and auditing of invoices. Additional responsibilities will include assisting the Staff Accountant with accounts payable and receivable tasks.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Perform daily payroll department operations
Manage workflow to ensure all payroll transactions are processed accurately and timely
Reconcile payroll prior to transmission and validate confirmed reports
Understand proper taxation of employer paid benefits
Execute time and attendance processing and interface with payroll
Process accurate and timely year-end reporting when necessary (W-2, W-2c, etc)
Oversee benefit processing and auditing
Entering vendor invoices for accurate payment
Assisting with the processing of customer invoices and\or posting of customer receipts and collections
Any other duties assigned
Qualifications:
High School Diploma required, associate?s degree in business preferred
3+ years experience processing multi-state payroll required, accounts payable and receivable experience preferred
Working knowledge of ADP and time and attendance programs
Working knowledge of payroll best practices.
Strong knowledge of federal and state regulations.
Experience handling bonuses, 401(k), pre/post-tax medical, and other benefits
Strong PC skills including proficiency in Excel.
Strong work ethic and team player.
High degree of professionalism.
Ability to deal with sensitive and confidential material
Strong interpersonal (verbal and written) communication skills.
Ability to communicate with various levels of management.
Decision-making, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
Organizational, multi-tasking, and prioritizing skills.
Job Type: Full-time
Salary: $20.00 /hour
