SQL Server Database Developer Job Opening in Portland, Oregon - AltSource, Inc. is a successful and rapidly growing custom software development company located in SE Portland. We currently have an opening for a mid-level SQL Server database developer to join the in-house database team.
This position is development-focused with the primary role being to work with application development and business teams in the support of feature development, reporting and data analysis. In addition, this position will work directly with the data architecture team to ensure ongoing development and analytical activities align with long-term enterprise goals.
This position is best suited for someone able to embrace an agile-focused approach to development and an eagerness to interact and collaborate directly with teams on a daily basis while providing hands on database support and guidance to developers and business stake holders.
This position will focus primarily on the Microsoft technology stack including SQL Server 2008 ? 2016+, on premise reporting services, SSIS, C#, and other data access technologies; however, other platforms and technologies may be used as business needs change.
We are currently hiring for both our Portland office and our new Hood River office.
Responsibilities:
Assist development teams in the build out of schema and database technologies
Ensure use of best practices for data-driven applications within development teams
Review and optimize application data access strategies
Enforce database quality standards within the code base
Build out and maintain reporting services and integration services applications
Support transactional and analytical database efforts in support of the business needs
Respond to data inquiries from stake holders and the business team
Mentor developers and product owners on OLTP and OLAP database patterns
Support architecture team in long-term planning and implementation
Support after-hours and on-call duties as required
Support operations and assist with troubleshooting activities as needed
Continue to develop your skills in database optimization, reporting, data analysis, and other database duties as a member of an agile software team

Requirements:
B.S. in Computer Science, Management Information Systems or related field
5+ years? experience as a SQL Server developer
Recent experience working with SQL Server 2008+ supporting OLTP and OLAP workloads
Strong knowledge of T-SQL, SSRS
Knowledge of SSIS
High level of proficiency in database design fundamentals for e-commerce, CRM and Inventory management systems a plus
Working experience with Excel and the ?Power? / data mining add-ons a plus
Experience with PowerBI stack a big plus
Working knowledge and experience developing and deploying SSRS reports
Experienced with source control applications (SVN, TFS, GIT, etc.)
Knowledge of C# and web technologies a plus
Experience with Visual Studio 2012, 2013 and 2015
Exposure to Azure cloud technologies a plus
Experience with large and very large RDBMS a plus
Exposure to non-Microsoft DB technologies a plus (MySQL, MongoDB, etc.)
