Staff Accountant Job Opening in Denver, Colorado - STAFF ACCOUNTANT/HR ADMINISTRATOR
Basic Function:
This position contributes to the accounting functions related to the retail operations of the company. These functions presently cover 11 retail stores and a franchise services company. This position reports to the Controller, with hands-on interaction and direction. It also interacts with other accounting areas, customer service, retail operations, store locations and executive management.
Specific responsibilities:
Reconciling intercompany activities
Invoicing Retail House Accounts
Processing of bi-weekly payroll for 50+ employees
Recording bi-weekly payroll journal entries
Retaining employee files and payroll records
Reconciling monthly bank statement activity
Preparing journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations
Assisting with monthly sales and use tax return preparation
Assisting with preparation of monthly consolidated financial statements and other reports
Tracking retail store employee health insurance eligibility
Coordinating ACA reporting with payroll processor
Completing employment verifications and other information requests
Maintaining adequate records and files of all work
Responding to other request, as needed
Skills:
Proficient in Microsoft Office, specifically Excel
Experience with accounting software, particularly Great Plains and Quick Books
Ability to identify and implement systemic automation opportunities
Prioritization and time management
Possess high level of urgency about achieving deadlines
Conscientious about producing an accurate work product
Aptitude to identify and implement process improvement
Ability to multi-task job duties and assigned projects
Attentive to details
Requirements:
Bachelor?s degree in related field
Three (3) to Five (5) years? work experience in accounting position
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Desire to be a team player and strong contributor
Capability to automate existing manual procedures
Preferences:
Retail and franchise entity knowledge
Experience with Aloha POS system
Experience in Human Resources Administration
