Accounting Manager Job Opening in Nashville, Tennessee - Position Title: Accounting Manager
Reports to: Senior Accounting Manager
Job Description & Responsibilities:
The Accounting Manager will be a key contributor in delivering the monthly/quarterly fuel results for the organization. This position will be responsible for all retail/dealer fuel accounting processes, procedures, financial reporting and margin analysis.
Owns the accounting close cycle to ensure that all revenue, costs, taxes, accruals, balance sheet reconciliations and adjusting journal entries are properly recorded and reflected each period/quarter end.
Provides timely analysis of both retail and dealer division: fuel gallons, fuel sales, fuel CPG, COGS fluctuations, fuel tax issues, etc.
Monitors, identifies and recommends solutions on any reporting issues from accounting systems - store level data flow, order/invoice reconciliation process in fuel management system, general ledger entries, account mapping, order entry issues with outside carriers, diversion issues, etc.
Participates in the development of business intelligence dashboards, analytical exception management reporting and KPIs to streamline and automate the review and closing tasks.
Leads, develops and supports a team of 5-7
Collaborates with both internal and external individuals to create efficiencies, automate processes and accelerate the monthly close cycle. Develops into a subject matter expert of underlying accounting systems and fuel accounting processes.
Assists with quarterly audit questions and provides needed support.
Education: Bachelors/4 Year Degree in Accounting/Finance
Experience: 6-8 years of progressive experience with at least 1-2 years in supervisory capacity (Previous experience in retail, oil/energy sector strongly preferred)
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Proficiencies in SAP, Great Plains and Insite 360 FuelQuest strongly preferred
Solid understanding of accounting principles and business application
Demonstrated business process improvement experience a plus
Advanced skills with Microsoft Excel
