Senior Accountant Job Opening in Johnson City, Tennessee - SUMMARY: Under the direction of the Director of Accounting, the Senior Accountant is responsible for administering the daily financial operation, applying principles of accounting and statistical analysis to establish and maintain proper accounting management.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned
Administer and control the financial activities and record of the Corporation.
Oversee the compilation, preparation, and maintenance of the physician and non-physician payroll systems.
Review accounts payable for appropriate signature authority and coding prior to posting.
Responsible for general ledger maintenance performing standard journal entries and adjustments including coding, posting, allocations, accruals and reconciliation of accounts.
Ability to comprehend, develop and apply complex Excel formulas to existing and new spreadsheets.
Develop and maintain accurate department and corporate cost reports and records.
Responsible for the preparation and distribution of monthly and quarterly financial reports.
Responsible for the final preparation of accounts for the year-end audit.
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations concerning retirement, social security, tax levies, garnishments, etc. Knowledge of basic principles of accounting. Knowledge of basic payroll and payroll taxes. Ability to effectively work in stressful situations where deadlines are required.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE: Bachelor of Science or Business Administration degree with a major in Accounting is required. A minimum of two years? experience with General Ledger accounting in a medical healthcare setting or similar responsibilities with an auditing firm is desired. CPA licensed in TN preferred.
