Accounting Controller - Construction Experience Job Opening in New Orleans, Louisiana - Controller -
Local Established Contracting Company is seeking a Controller - Construction to join their team! This position is responsible for all accounting functions. This includes establishing, implementing and managing compliance to the Development Department?s accounting processes, policies, practices, and procedures. Assistance in preparing and evaluating budgets, job costs, and cost controls. Prepares and evaluates cost reports and other financial operating reports, and presents findings and recommendations to the Development Team.
Controller - Construction Job Duties & Responsibilities:
Responsible for all accounting related functions on multiple projects and compliance with company policy and general ledger transactions (payables, receivables, inventory, payroll, fixed assets, and reconciliations.)Responsible for accounting procedures, internal controls (implementing, monitoring, enhancing) and Development system project budgets into job cost, tracks and updates budgets for approved change orders and budget for Job cost tracking, analysis and contract and change order values, previous payments, numerical calculations, lien waivers, back-up for stored materials, and invoices for managements review and contract terms and conditions, be knowledgeable of contractual requirements, and recognize work flow to assure that all accounting transactions are appropriately journal entries and other work end year end close Statement job cost and transaction reports, and analyzes and assists management in cost control with other corporate accounting on special projects as requested; assists with yearly audit with Project Managers and management on all aspects of construction duties as assigned.
Controller - Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
Background in construction accounting, revenue recognition, and job costing Requires the ability to meet the demands of the work schedule, to be at work and on time. Ability to demonstrate accuracy and thoroughness, monitors own work to ensure quality and applies feedback to improve to communicate well with a variety of people including excellent written and interpersonal skills necessary for achieving goals and resolving conflicts.
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting and a minimum of 5 years of progressive
experience.
