PSM Coordinator Job Opening in Gramercy, Louisiana - ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The PSM Coordinator is responsible for the administration of the facility Process Safety Management (PSM) regulation to meet the requirements of 29 CFR 1910.119. This position will receive functional guidance from the EH&S Manager. Responsible for the documentation supporting the facility implementation of the fourteen (14) elements of the Process Safety Management program.
This includes but is not limited to:
Gathering and centrally organize information pertaining to all 14 elements of PSM to sustain the program.
Organize, update, and execute PHA?s, LOPAs, HAZOPs, etc. for all plant units
Act as site subject matter expert on MOC process and assist with PSSRs and process safety related investigations
Assist with the development and maintaining written process safety information identifying workplace chemical and process hazards, equipment used in the processes, and technology used in the process.
Develop and implement a point of use library containing all process safety information in accordance with OSHA 1910.119.
Preparing compliance manuals as necessary.
Assist with the organization and execution of Process Hazard Analysis of all plant units
Track the status of recommendations against due dates and ensure zero late action items
Ensuring documentation is available for all employees at the facility
Management of the Management of Change Program which include:
Tracking of change submittals and approvals,
Start-up approvals,
Assisting with the development of operating procedures,
Tracking results of hazard evaluation, training of personnel on changes, and other recommendations and ensuring zero late action items.
Updating of Process Safety Information
Ensuring documentation is available for all employees at the facility
Participating in compliance audits for PSM. This includes preparing for the audits.
Track the status of recommendations against due dates and ensure zero late action items
Ensuring documentation is available for employees at the facility
Assist with process safety program administration including, training, conducting periodic internal audits, and employee safety committee participation
Assist with performance of workplace hazard assessment, including, as appropriate, identification of potential sources of accidental releases, identification of any previous release within the facility that had a potential for catastrophic consequences in the workplace.
Consult with effected employees and maintain documentation that supports employee participation with the PSM program.
Assist Plant Operations with development of written operating procedures for the chemical processes, including procedures for each operating phase, operating limitations, and safety and health considerations.
Assist with the performance of Pre-Startup Safety Review (PSSR) of all newly installed or modified equipment. Tracking the status of recommendations and completion as identified in the performance of the PSSR. Periodic audits of the PSM Program.
Enlist and train other department personnel to assist in the development and implementation of the PSM program elements.
Based on the facility PSM program procedures ensure all associated documentation is filed, indexed and maintained sufficiently for third party compliance auditing.
Assist plant management with development of annual program implementation goals and provide periodic reports and distribute as required. Own/manage various process safety related site metrics, spreadsheets, and databases.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Participate as an active member of the Emergency Response Team (ERT)
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This position is not supervisory.
QUALIFICATIONS
Required to pass a physical.
Computer skills, particularly Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Outlook, Internet Explorer and other general purpose and industry specific software packages.
Possess an understanding of document control as it relates to the PSM process.
Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal supervision, self-starting and proactive, and have strong organizational skills. Must be able to handle multiple assignments simultaneously, set goals, and complete commitment on schedule.
Willing to travel to seminars, training schools etc. for initial program training and continuing education.
Good oral and written communication skills. Ability to make presentations to a wide range audience including management, technical, and non-technical levels on program status and identified objectives.
Team player works effectively and cooperatively with others. Actively shares knowledge and skills with others.
Process Safety Management Coordinator experience a plus
Experience with facilitating, participating in, and/or scribing PHAs
PSM background including MOC, PSSR, HAZOP, etc.
Project management or process engineering experience

Education minimum: Four (4) year degree in science or engineering. Extensive petrochemical industrial experience may be substituted for the technical degree
Experience minimum: Five (5) years of petrochemical industrial experience is required.
PSM experience minimum: Three (3) to five (5) years of dedicated PSM experience at a petrochemical industrial site.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read, analyze and interpret information. Ability to write reports and basics business correspondence. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups, managers, clients, customers and the general public.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written and oral form
